Great Britain will be getting a price drop for the Nintendo DSi at almost the same exact time as Japan.

Citizens of the United Kingdom will soon see a price drop for the Nintendo DSi.

Nintendo's official comment states, "In the UK Nintendo will be reducing the trade price of Nintendo DSi to retailers from June 18, 2010. The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by the retailers." It is not yet known how much Nintendo is cutting the system's price for retailers.

The DSi's current recommended retail price is £149.99, but the system can already be found for about 30 pounds cheaper online.

Is this a further price drop then when the DSi XL came out? Or is this the only price drop so far for the UK? Here in Australia the DSi XL launched the same price as the DSi and the DSi price was cut.

The fact the DSi is getting a price cut right before E3 is an indication of things to come.
Nintendo is hoping to push a few extra sales of the system before the inevitable sales decline following the 3DS announcement.

have to say 300 is a pretty pricey asking point for any handheld, considering 360 arcades can be frequently found on sale for 200.

He means AU$300 judging by his flag. £1 is roughly $1.70 so that price is roughly the same as the GBP one (though to the Australians its an awful lot more).
I though DSis were just £150 anyway?

3DS on the way, so they're probably just trying to sell through all remaining stock before E3.

If Japan and UK, will the US get this price cut also? Honestly, I just want the new colors Japan is getting. Especially, the blue or yellow.

IIRC there's a rumour that the 3ds will come out in at least two regions by the end of the year, Japan and the UK are both getting price cuts, so I reckon those are probably the 2 that they meant.

My son paid £137/US$200 for his DSiXL in store here about a month ago... You can easily pay 40-50% more though if you're not "on the ball". There could be better deals online too...

UK getting it before America does? That's not like nintendo at all.

By the way, I presume this price drop only goes for the UK and not for the rest of europe?

Not likely, but everyone I know who wants a DS here has pretty much already got one, it seems like to me the DS is selling a lot less.
I'm not sure if it's the same for the US though.

the dsl i am using was for around 200$ with r4, 1gb kingston and a free game... cheap deal on sales in aussie (opium would know) near christmas
possibly if the price reaches somewhere near 150$ US, then christmas will really be joyous

analytically (not tht i know actually) it may seem tht they are either encouraging sales bcz they werent convincing or that they want to get as rid (although harsh) of as many older (6 yr old HW) as possible to make room for the 3ds (with tilt sensor and some other strange unknown features... i bet there are, touchscreen was not announced but seen in E3)
