I think she's gorgeous ~ what do you think?
I agree, and for a long time wondered if I was the only one that didn't think she was ugly. Guess I'm not!
Hah, i had this discussion with a friend... I said "ugly betty's not so ugly... she looks like someone i would date"
I saw her on Jay Leno the other night. She's a sweet person. And really funny
Thirded; they just took someone who is rather pretty and dressed her up in bad outfits. Not ugly Betty, just really-poor-taste-in-clothes Betty. Ah well at least it's a comedy, it doesn't really matter. (but they could've put some effort in, there's more than enough ugly people in the world who could fill the role )
Fugly Betty is a'ight.
What do you think of her now? hot!
Anything better than man is ok for me.
they should have made her face like mega scarred or something. then i'd like to see her succeed in life (in the show)
The german version
pretty people posing as ugly. thats so insulting to the real ugly people!
wonder why they think slapping on some bracers and plastic frame glasses makes a girl ugly, acually gives them a cute look.
as a teacher once told me, ugly people are only ugly because their insides are ugly and their insides are comming out...
(although he was joking it was somewhat horrable)
WHOA THAT IS UGLY. But do they mention she's Spanish or something in the German version at all?
I'm suddenly very happy that my childhood pictures are with my parents in Arizona and safe from Spikey scanning them in... I definitely had my ugly duckling phase
Thank goodness for braces, contact lenses, and Accutane
I think U.S. ugly betty is pretty good lookin imho.
I had a hugeass glasses and bowl haircut when I was as kid. Only when I started getting money from working did I decide to get smaller glasses and a different haircut (but more likely I get it all shaved off since I hate going to hairdressers... urgh... I hate the spray bottles)
In the german version, while it was the inspiration for "Ugly Betty", the main character "Lisa Plenske" was just ugly. It wasn't a comedy, too, more of a soap opera - and it was annoying as hell. At one time you couldn't open the newspaper without seeing ads or reports on that piece of trash television show. Obviously there must've been a mass-lobotomization going on sometime, as I have no idea why so many people followed this brain numbing diarreah. But for some reason it was quite a success, so american TV took it over.
