I've not come across any other ways, always have to jump onto my win2k3 machine to do it...if you are 'stuck' in Ubuntu how about running dpgenc.exe in wine?

I did try dpgenc.exe under Wine, but I am always getting an error from ffmpeg.exe and the program closes.

So let's say, that I have an divx (.avi) in my /home named 123.avi, I would simply have to open a terminal and type

Code:
mencoder 123.avi -o out.mpg -nosound -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg1video:vrc_buf_size=327:vrc_maxrate=512:vbitrate=256:vstrict=-1 -ofps 18 -vf scale=256:192
If yes, would this directly give me a proper file ready to use in Moonshell ??

In any case, if I do I get this error :

Code:
pip@pip-desktop:~$ mencoder kop4b.avi -o out.mpg -nosound -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg1video:vrc_buf_size=327:vrc_maxrate=512:vbitrate=256:vstrict=-1 -ofps 18 -vf scale=256:192

As far as I know, DPGConv is the best way to convert to DPG in Linux, as WalterCool stated. Give it a shot before trying other methods.
