Ubisoft delays Assassin's Creed Shadows for a second time

acshadowsdely.png

Originally, Assassin's Creed Shadows was due to launch in November 2024. Citing issues with pacing and polish, Ubisoft pushed the game back to a February 2025 window. With its release imminent, Ubisoft has decided to delay the game yet again. This time, it appears that the company is undergoing major cost-cutting measures, after holiday sales were less than expected, in addition to poor reception on last year's Star Wars Outlaws. In an attempt to "deliver best-in-class player experiences, enhance operational efficiency and maximize value creation", Ubisoft will be delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows to March 20th.

Additionally, we are all behind our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus of the franchise and made the decision to provide an extra month of development to Shadows in order to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months that will enable us to fully deliver on the potential of the game and finish the year on a strong note.

Blackflag had the pirate stuff, and that was loads of fun. I wonder what cool Samurai stuff they can do in this game. Some kenshin style one-on-one battles? obviously assassinations. Maybe fighting the Shinsengumi? OR is that even the right era? My japanese history is informed only by anime.
Wrong era. The Shinsengumi was present in the mid 1800's (specifically, they were formed in 1863 during the final years of the Tokugawa Shogunate, prior to the Meiji Restoration in 1868). Considering Yasuke is meant to be one of the major characters for the game, this would place the story within the mid-late 1500's, during the Sengoku period of Japan and Nobunaga's conquest of Japan prior to the Honnoji Incident (June, 1582)*.

As for whether or not Shadows will be similar to Black Flag in fun level...Eh, I'm not really expecting it. Especially not after they tried to make F2P-esque microtransactions for singleplayer games a thing and attempted to pad their games to reflect that. Unless they learned their lesson and stopped doing things like that, but... It's Ubisoft. They'll never learn.

(*Didn't even have to Google this one. I knew that date off-hand, thanks to Samurai Warriors 3 and the Chronicles spin-offs.)

There is. It's the political section. We'd rather not filter people's speech, but ensure it goes into a place where everyone actually wants to discuss that particular topic. It's unfair to folks who want to talk about one topic, in this case this specific game and its delay, to see nothing but sidetracked responses and no one talking about the actual thing. Thus the policy.

And obviously, we won't put up with threats or hate speech, but we do try and not hinder folks from expressing themselves. Just needs to be respectful, and in the right place so everyone is on the same page about wanting to discuss the same thing.

Now getting back on topic....

Good luck as previous trailers had the architectures wrong, some were chinese, Yasuke used the Katana wrong and held it wrong and had many inconsitencies that tied incorrectly of the era.

I have't seen the recent trailer yet, but considering no one still doesn't want to touch it and media is doing damage control and clearly the media is being forced to say good things when they only got to play only 6 hours with free plane and hotel and who knows what else is included. You can tell media is being forced with their messaging when they repeat the same thing about the game when they all seperatly played 6 hours.

Not looking forward to it at all. Hey I will like to admit that I am wrong but the evidence keep pointing to be a bad game.

I just want to say that "X game is woke but popular!" isn't a valid argument because the games have succeeded *despite* being woke, not *because* of it. "Woke" and "popular" aren't mutually exclusive terms.

De-cores the entire argument if you see it like that. The favorite saying of people that complain about woke video games seems to be "go woke, go broke", and now you're saying "actually no, people don't actually care about woke (whatever this nebulously defined term means) all the time" - so, just some of the time?

Because, and now I'm turning your argument around, the games that people believe fail because they're woke, are actually failing because they're also focus-tested homogenized unoffensive garbage. With a black person appearing on screen.

Or do you think Baldurs Gate 3 would be better without gay romance and queer undertones throughout? I'd personally say that's part of the core identity and aesthetic of that game, and that appeal has contributed to its success.

Zelda been “woke” since OOT but a lot of y'all ignore it because it sells.
here i come looking for ocarina of time 3d stuff on here and i see slander

your like the first thing that comes up too which sucks

no zelda game could be argued as "woke" it misses the key aspects of a game that has that promise

none of the characters are race swapped the writing is good its not pushing a crappy political message

it also doesn't horribly disrespect the cultures its trying to mimic

the only thing that you can argue is that in the English version of botw and totk they absolutely are trying to censor link being a human being with thoughts its honestly sad the japanese get his journal with his thoughts we get a boring narrated quest log
they turned a story about a penpal friendship into a relationship between an adult hylian and a child zora

A bad translation isnt a game

Assassin's creed without being even OUT
Disrespects everyone's Culture
flat out used zoro's swords from one piece and claimed they made them
the list goes on and on but i dont want this message to get nuked
