i am surprised israel is on the list considering the problems btn israel and palestine. its as if the ppl dont know whats going on.
The problems don't affect the regular civilians that much. Usually the government handles it I guess.

I thought the USA never did very well in these things. I wouldn't worry anyhows, I know the UK would be very unhappy if we got told we weren't absolutely miserable all the time. Having something to be pissed off about cheers us up.

But really, what do people expect out of life? None stop extreme ecstasy?

That's what most people do seem to think, from what I've seen.

QUOTE(naved.islam14 @ Jun 6 2011, 03:12 PM) I wonder where's Singapore.
Oh, at the rock bottom. You will know it when you live here.
I thought it was law, you had to be happy in Singapore. Don't worry I'm sure if the government sees this study they'll add it in with the politeness lessons at school.

Canada is a nice place to live. It doesn't have a lot of crime, it's peaceful, women are hot (lots of immigrants here as well, so there is women for all tastes).

The only downside: We have snow. Snow is evil and it must die.
Snow is the BESTEST* thing about Canada. Snow is bloody brilliant. I flippin love snow. Snow is cool, literally! If you have snow God is smiling on you be happy.

*And no that isn't a word but I don't care.

If you describe Japanese people as affectionate one more time I'm going to have to buy a new monitor. I've already sprayed it with tea twice now.

For the USA it also matters in which part you live in. Like if you live in the middle, no shit you won't be happy its all poor. Try living in New York City its great, and its one of the best places in the world to find a job.

This is not the FACT!
It's based upon statistics and scientifically calculated. It may not be completely the "Fact", but it's obviously pretty close to it. Besides, it's indicated by survey, so it basically means that people themselves are not that happy with the U.S. I'm fairly certain that their statistics are quite accurate.

Stereotyping.

So I'm sure all of the homeless guys living in New York think it's one of the best places in the world to find a job. And all of those that live happy, sustainable lives in the "Middle" think it's all poor.

Japan - Not a beautiful cornucopia of anime and manga. It's rich. Sure. But happiness =/= richness. Richness plays a large part, but there's more than that.

Well, it's their job to be totally impartial and base their study purely on statistics. They wouldn't want to discredit their own reputation in any way.

EDIT: Found something interesting. A slightly outdated but more complete study (the rankings are very similar, with nearly the same top 10) ranks U.S. as 14th... so 4 spots away from the top 10 shouldn't be something to fret about.

At least you're not living in number 94. How the fuck did Serbia get ahead of us?

To those who were asking about Singapore, it's 81.

As well i have been to the middle of the Country and they are doing a hell of a lot better than most people claim.
Chicago isn't in the middle, right?

Middle = States like N/S Dakota, Wyoming, Kansas?

Sorry but I'm a failure in Geography

81? Now I'M SURPRISED. We have such tight laws, tight work schedules, a crazy govt and tight study programs and we are still number 81?

Not to mention the mad influx of foreign 'talents' (particularly from PRC) who think they're superior. Slashing, robbing and even boxed someone in the eye just because of taking a bit more ikan bilis (or anchovies), then even ended up throwing bricks on his car.
