Hacking .txt ROMs?!

I found a site that lets you download roms as torrents or as .txt files. of course, you can change the file extension to .nds, but I was just wondering if that actually works. I am asking because this gets roms sooner than all the other sites I use.

You got it all wrong. You can download the TORRENT file as a regular .torrent file, or as a .txt file, because some ISPs block the downloading of .torrent files.

Well the .txt file have the link for you to input in your torrent client

NDS rom sites aren't allowed, so no links, but are you sure it isn't just the torrent file that you download then it loads in your bittorrent program to find the tracker then start downloading the actual file?

Most sites allow download of a torrent file as .tor or .txt

Just look at the filesize of the txt. If it is small than it is a torrent (or... a textfile), but if it is many MBs, it could be the renamed game.
