Two problems(ish)

So my first, is that when I login, and the page refreshes, it still looks like I am logged out, and a guest, if I refresh the page it fixes the problem, and it shows that I am logged in, but it's somewhat annoying, and was wondering if someone could look into this if possible

my second problem, is that the box that shows suggestions, the threads are usually old, by maybe a year or way longer, I was wondering if this could be changed so it's more relevant times, like maybe couple months old at best, I didn't look at the time it was posted, and almost necro-bumped a two year thread.
