What about working for one of the major telecom companies in the country that also happens to be a major television provider where job duties also include product compatibility and performance testing?

And you don't have to try and have a cock-off with me. I know what I know. If you don't want to believe it, that's fine. You can swear by user reviews on newegg and spout wikipedia knowledge with no real world experience all you want. I'll try and get you hard numbers when my VPN access comes back up, though that won't be linked to wikipedia article, so you probably won't believe it anyways.

Must be Comcast. That qualifies you as an HTDV expert? Whatev.

Again. Link to the failure rate please?

And Wikipedia, wtf are you talking about?

Again, why do you keep trying to put words in my mouth? Where did I say I was an expert*? If you don't want to believe me, that's fine. Keep acting like you have knowledge when all you know is what you read on the internet. I'll get you a doc on failure rates when I can remote back into my work machine. I do remember that the top 3 were all no-name brands. I think Vizio was one, but I don't remember exactly, it was from about 4 months ago.

And no, not Comcast.

*I am a CHTDS, however.

And I always thought that when people bought Sony products in general, they knew they paid more not only for the name, but sometimes substandard http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=lcd+failure+rates+wega products, failed formats (Minidisc, ATRAC, Betamax, UMD movies), the possibility of getting infested with illegal rootkits http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sony+rootkit and jacked-up package license terms.

Plus some off-brand HDTV companies have been making PC LCD's for years with quality results that went unnoticed because fanboys didn't have a logo to drool over. But it doesn't really matter because user ratings show people are happy getting the same quality for 30% less (yes, I trust the end-user experience) and these are people who earn their money rather than go tell their parents to buy the most expensive item if it wont affect their aggregate allowance.

Best quality is Sharp Aquos series. Best I've ever since. Coming from a person who has a Bravia/Samsung/Sharp/Some China Brad LCDs. The Aquos series if quite expensive though but worth every penny.

  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    It's a genuinely great manga.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
too bad it never got an anime adaption, even in the form of OVA since a tv series would be too censored for the manga's material.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
    and yeah, great manga.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
no idea why it would be censored tbh, it has nothing to explicit
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
compared to most midnight anime that air in japan
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
we talk about same japanese tv that censors shit like teenage characters smoking
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
I'd rather they censor smoking than cleavage like they do in the west.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Smoking is bad for your health, boobs are good
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
actually anime have also toned down fanservice a lot at the last 2 decades. when was the last time you saw nipples in anime that isnt hentai?
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
in quite a few, once the uncensored version releases
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
also seeing smoking at media wont make me want to smoke
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
even at "uncensored" home releases they still show no nipples with few, rare exceptions
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
It makes it seem cool, that's why smoking

comercials were banned here in the 90s.
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
even ecchi manga dont show nipples nowadays
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
I'm reading several that do atm. x'D
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
even it looks cool, i still hate smoking and i always hated smoking
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
    They're seinen though.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
But yeah, it also has to do with the fact that stuff are more sexualised

    now
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
even at seinen i am reading, the only one that shows nipples sometimes is Oversized Sextet
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Like, Urusei Yatsura, I love the manga and the original anime.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
In the original rumiko takahashi works, nudity was common
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
i still havent read the manga. also surprisinly i like both the new and the old anime adaption.
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
Lum being topless and Ranma always topless when turning female wasn't sexual
  • Vetusomaru @ Vetusomaru:
also the old anime adaption of Urusei Yatsura had more fanservice than the manga
  • Skelletonike @ Skelletonike:
That's one of the issues I have with ecchi stuff recently, it focuses too much on the sexual aspect, not the comedy effect.
