I would also like to know the solution to Jason's problem.

I'm planning to convert my cia mh4u save to mh4g then back to mh4u.
I have SDF, which I have never used.

This thread is for converting from one format (or header) to another. Jason's problem, and therefore yours, is not changing the format, but having a problem connecting to one of multiple online services for MH4U. The fact that you can play online (but not G rank quests) means it's not a problem with this process, but something else. I tried quickly googling it, but I had no luck. And, from his thread he linked to on the previous page, I'm not even sure if it's an actual glitch or it's intended.

I haven't converted, but I wouldn't want the same problem happening to me if I used this method.

Hi, Thank you for your try
I figure out the problems of that but i dont hav any solution yet
Once we convert the save from JAP to EUR or EUR to JAP
The guild card will loss the Awards RANDOMLY and Weapon Usage will insane increase (sometimes may cause the game CRASH!!!)
Because I converted 1 time before, i was lucky didnt lost the G1 and G2 Awards that made me still able to play online in G-Rank quest, but i believe that i was missing some Awards
but second time I lost the G1 and G2 both Awards that made me unable to search Elder Hall (G3 Awards still on but doesnt help)

I'm having a problem with the Bravely Default.
I use the same header on both (US and EUR) game.

On step 14, I have 2 folders. one of the USA version and another of EUR.
The name is 00000fc5 (usa) and 00000fc6 (eur)
The .dat files, also have the fc5 or fc6 in the name.
I try to rename the fc6 files to put in the fc5 folder, without changing the export.log file.

But when i try to import the save, i got an error.
Someone can help ? (Sorry for bad english)

    ** I'm trying export a .3dz eur game to a .cia usa

So you copy the fc6.dat to the fc5 folder, rename it to fc5.dat, and then get an error when trying to import the new fc5 folder? Is there only one file in the folders?

No, there was the fc5.dat fc5_.dat
The same with the fc6 folder.
I've tried rename, but get the error on import time.

Can you try putting another copy of Bravely Default EU (or getting a new copy of Bravely Default US) on your microSD card and try it that way? I never did the transfer with a .cia game, so I can't give you any advice on it. But if you were to transfer from EU .3dz to US .3dz, and it worked, we'd know that the problem lies with the .cia.

So, is there a game where messing with the <titleid>.dat actually matters, since it is in your tutorial? I've converted a fair number of saves to/from 3ds(z)/cia and across region, and in every single case, those .dat files are not in any fashion important to the save itself. Simply copying the actual save files is all that matters.

It may just be stuff like version number, and other unimportant data. I have no idea. But like you said, it's unnecessary for the save transfer, so there's no reason to test it and find out, other than curiosity.
Oh, I think I might have realized what the problem is, thanks to Oswarlan mentioning the .dat files. For MH4U, my folder looks like this: [IMG]

And inside that 00001263 folder are the files "system" and "user1." You need to copy the files in the folder, not the .dat files.

    Woooa, it worked !
I dont rename the .dat files.
I just pick the folders from fc6 folder and put in the fc5.

It worked to 3dz EUR to 3dz USA, also for the EUR to .cia
    Thanks everyone !

Would this method also work for converting saves from a .CIA of a JPN game to a save for a .CIA US/EUR game? I'm gonna play the Japanese version of Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 first in .cia format, then when the US/EUR rom comes out, I want to be able to transfer my progress. If it doesn't work, what steps should I take to make it work?

Great! Gonna try it out. I'm sure your tutorial will be super helpful for people who want to play JPN games because the localized version is slow to release, but will still able to transfer their progress over once the actual localized version comes out.

Hey guys, would it be possible to accomplish this using only eShop downloaded games and nothing else? I've got Xenoblade Chronicles 3D on my EU New 3DS and have been playing it that way, but would prefer to transfer the save to the U.S. eShop version I have on my U.S. system. Any help is appreciated.

I personally don't know how to transfer save games for eShop titles, but I would imagine it's basically (if not exactly) the same as the process for transferring between .cia versions, so it's extremely likely.

Thanks for the hopeful response - I'm going to bed but maybe someone will have a more definitive answer tomorrow! :)
