Hi,

I am looking for a turn-based RPG like Nostalgia or FF, but with a real variety of items, like Diablo or Soma Bringer. The Items in Nostalgia or FF are "limited", they are not randomly generated and the order you get them is usually more or less fixed. I tried Phantasy Star 0, but didn't like the battlesystem and Knights in the Nightmare, which is too hardcore for me. Is there anything else that fits in this genre?

You could try Avalon Code, not quite the same but you can alter the nature of the many weapons. If you find some more I'd love to know why they are.

Disgaea probably has the best item system I can think of in a turn-based RPG, if you haven't played that already. Like Diablo the same item can be generated with different stats, have different rarities and the specialist system is kinda like the gem-slotting system in Diablo.

This being said random/procedural generation is surely where it is at.

I play that game alot, i have yet to even reach 10 floors in the game.. anyone ever managed to complete the game? I mean it's pure luck you get to start with something usefull, or find something that makes you able to surive long enough.

uh..not turn based but Ragnarok Online DS might be the kinda game you like. Supposed to be getting a US release soon, but there is a partial translation available for the J one. Will probably play it all over again when it comes out. lots of fun, non linear and after the main game theres still lots of side quests and stuff.
