    So i've been trying to get my backups to work on my wii with no success. I receive ret=-2 from the cfg program and a "DW+R/dl/bad burn" from neogamma when i insert a burned ImgBurn of LoZ WW. I tried placing the iso on my 8gb ultra speed flash drive but wbfs only seems to be able to format my drive correctly, and continues to take 1 second to place the 1 gig or so file onto my USB. Here are my current wii stats;

    ...runs on IOS58 (rev 6176).

    Region: NTSC-U
    System Menu 4.0/4.1U (v54449)

    Are you sure your Wii is not one of the newer types not playing non original dvd discs? You could try to play a video dvd with wiimc.

    If that doesn't work, you should forget backup dvd's. (You can check your wii serial number as well for your dvd drive chipset version.)

    How is your usb stick formatted? (What partition type) Have you tried to put a homebrew on it to see if it's compatibel with the wii?
    Even if a homebrew works, it's not 100% sure that it will work with an usb loader as well. If your usbloader can see the game on the stick, you should be fine.

    Format the usb stick as fat32. Wbfs partitions are no longer used in most cases. Fat32 has the advantage that you can simply copy files to it with your pc.

    Do you mean Wind Waker? That's a GC game and won't work from usb. And to play it from disc, you would need a cMIOS. BUT: The error message you get from NeoGamma is BEFORE the cMIOS is involved, so installing a cMIOS wouldn't change a thing.

    Do you have a cIOS? Is that a DVD+R? Is it high quality media? If your drive old enough?

    bought my wii before 2009 so it should be good. my usb was formated using wbfs, i will now try fat32 and also i have not put a homebrew on it, my homebrews are on my sd card. I am using a DVD-RW maxell, 4.7gigs. I think i do have a cIOS but i will reinstall just to make sure. thanks for the feedback, i will try these today and get back to you.

    edit:i just remembered i recently insalled cIOS d2x rev6. I read somewhere this is the best one to have.
    edit2: Wii model = RVL-001 (USA)

    Im pretty sure DVD-RW disc do not work. It has to be DVD-r or DVD+r with the book type changed.

    As for high quality media, its like everything else you get what you pay for. Verbatim is apparently one of the best brands to buy

    i had some memorex dvd+r lying around, and those also don't work on neogamma or cfg. I am now going to try my newly formated fat32 usb with the iso.

    edit: neither of them worked. Is there any ios, cios, mios or anything i need in my wii. or should i try a highly downloaded/seeded/leeched iso.

    ...One thing, when you burned to your Memorex, did you change the booktype? What burner are you using?

    And of course, why are you a pirate?
