This may be the end of the Truncha Signer and the Freeloader.

We all knew it was gonna happen. The hackers will work around it, wait and see.

Right now, the trick is not to update.

I think Nintendo will turn a blind eye towards the Twilight Hack until it enables piracy.
I don't think they will mind extra publicity from homebrew

Maybe it might go as far as to what happened to the PS2. Modchip, via 32MB memory card.

Freeloader still works after the update.

I have an unmodded Wii, and my Freeloader still boots up my imports, even after the update.

what version 3.2u or 3.2e?

please read the above link carefully...

this update WILL with a money back GUARANTEE mean that any future trucha
signed discs will not work - the wii will not allow them to boot - (as things currently
stand) the firmware will lay dormant (not really...but
its the best way to word it for now) until a future game release -
and i'm betting it'll be mario kart - activates it.

anyone familiar with nintendo's endeavours to frustrate and whilst commendable for
their business - stop piracy altogether will know that the big N will NEVER stop.
They are most certainly aware of the systems currently unsecure software and
this firmware update is further proof of their continuing strategies.

It will i'm sure be an on going battle but anyone who thinks that Nintendo would
not stop these breachs of their software and ultimately hardware - is kidding themselves.

Enjoy the freeloader and trucha whilst it lasts. I myself will try and finish Mario in english
on my jpn wii whilst i still can - so i would advise you play those modded games now while
you still can (NMH with/out blood...Manhunt2-uncensored...etc...)

I didn't install this last update. So I'll just wait it out. I'm sure mario kart will have the update which activates the truchablock. But I'll use freeloader to skip that update.

I don't think it's that easy. If Nintendo put some new libraries or functions into the new firmware, which mario kart NEEDS in order to run, skipping the update won't make the game work.

So all of a sudden '#wiidev' crew seem to have aquired the ability to pull firmware code from the wii, decrypt and back engineer it so they can see the 'trucha' hole has been patched, but only when that code is called by a future firware.......

pull the other one ffs

If they can pull the files out and read them, can't they add the security hole in the files again yet trick the system into thinking it has the new files?

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.
