Intro
iDOLM@STER is a Japanese multimedia franchise that started in arcades in 2005. There are multiple games, spin-offs, various manga/anime series and all sorts of other media related to the franchise. One for All was the first official game where you can produce all 13 idols from 765. A management game with rhythm game elements, every season you have 12 weeks to meet a goal as well as a bonus goal. And that can be from doing promotions with your idols, completing auditions, winning festivals, reaching a high score, and much more. Along the way you'll fight different idols in the franchise, from Jupiter in the SideM branch, the Dearly Stars from 876 Pro, and Leon who is your main rival part of 961 Pro. There's also DLC where you can go against idols from Cinderella Girls and Million Live.

Progress (It's done!)
It took 4 years: with the main story taking about a year, birthday boards and DLC stories taking 2 years, and mails taking 3 years. But it is fully complete!

The patch can be found here: Patch Site

It is separated into 2 patches, one for the main story and one for the dlc.

So... what's next?

Right now I'm working on Ritsuko's route in Idolmaster SP for the PSP. It is 20% done. Some helping hands would be nice but it can also be done in a slow in steady pace.
I'm also interested in doing an Idolmaster 2 translation project. And while work has been done to decrypt the .scb files, a full script dump like OFA's or SP's format would be nice. I'll update you on that in another thread for that game or we can talk about it here. Enjoy!

Can you please provide instructions on how to apply the patch?
Sure! (Copied from the patch page.)
The first step you need to do is to download all the patching programs and files. The patching process uses some batch files that require every file to be put in the correct location, so follow these steps:
  1. Create a new folder somewhere called OFA_eng.
  2. Within this folder OFA_eng, create 4 new folders:
    • original
    • original_dlc
    • patched
    • patched_dlc
  3. Download the following and put them all into OFA_eng:
  4. Your folder OFA_eng should now look like the image below.
  5. Make sure that all the filenames match exactly, otherwise the batch scripts will not run properly.

If you are patching the Disc version, follow the steps below:
1. In the folder PS3_GAME/USRDIR in the game files, you should find the following 4 files:
  • hdd.arc
  • hdd.bin
  • disc.arc
  • disc.bin
If you have the 1.07 update for the game installed, you should also find the following 2 files in the folder dev_hdd0/game/BLJS10260/USRDIR on your PS3:
  • _patch.arc.edat
  • _patch.bin.edat
You can download the package for the 1.07 update for the game from the PlayStation servers using this link. Remember you have to install the package first to find the files.

2. Copy all these files to the folder OFA_eng/original on your computer.
1720829796200.png

3. Now run patch_main_disc.bat by double-clicking it. This should produce patched versions of the files in OFA_eng/patched.

4. Copy the hdd and disc files in OFA_eng/patched back over to PS3_GAME/USRDIR, replacing the original files.

If you have the game update, copy the _patch files back over to the folder dev_hdd0/game/BLJS10260/USRDIR on your PS3.

5. Move the whole game folder onto your PS3, e.g. into dev_hdd0/GAMES , if it isn't on your PS3 already.

6. If it exists, delete the folder dev_hdd0/game/BLJS10260DATA on your PS3. This will remove the original Japanese installed data, so that it gets replaced by the English patched data the next time you boot up the game.

If you are patching the PSN version, follow the steps below:
1. You will need a .rap file for the game as well, which should have the name JP0700-NPJB00611_00-0000000000000000.rap. This .rap file is needed to decrypt the game files.
2. Place this .rap file into OFA_eng.
3. Your folder should now look like the picture below. Make sure the names of all the files and folders match exactly, otherwise the scripts won’t work.
1720829898632.png

4. If you haven't downloaded & installed the game onto your PS3 yet, do so now. Also, if you have an update for the game, install it if you haven't already. You can download the package for the 1.07 update for the game from the PlayStation servers using this link.

5. Next, in the folder dev_hdd0/game/NPJB00611/USRDIR on your PS3, you should find the following 2 files:
  • ofa.arc.edat
  • ofa.bin.edat
If you have the 1.07 update for the game installed, you should also find the following 2 files:
  • _patch.arc.edat
  • _patch.bin.edat
6. Copy all these files to OFA_eng/original.
1720829928966.png

7. Now run patch_main_psn.bat by double-clicking it. This should produce patched versions of the files, in OFA_eng/patched.

8. Copy the files in OFA_eng/patched back over to dev_hdd0/game/NPJB00611/USRDIR, replacing the original files.

To patch DLC, follow the steps below:

If you have any DLC, you’ll need to patch them as well.

1. First, install the DLC if you haven’t already.

2. Once it’s installed, you should be able to find the installed files on your PS3 in the folder dev_hdd0/game/BLJS10260/USRDIR. (Note the game code here is BLJS10260 and not NPJB00611 even if you have the PSN version.)

3. Find the following files. If you can’t find some of the files that’s okay, it means you don’t have that DLC.
  • dlc01.arc.edat, dlc01.bin.edat
  • dlc02.arc.edat, dlc02.bin.edat
  • _dlc03.arc.edat, _dlc03.bin.edat
  • _dlc04.arc.edat, _dlc04.bin.edat
  • _dlc05.arc.edat, _dlc05.bin.edat
  • _dlc06.arc.edat, _dlc06.bin.edat
  • _dlc07.arc.edat, _dlc07.bin.edat
  • _dlc08.arc.edat, _dlc08.bin.edat
  • _dlc09.arc.edat, _dlc09.bin.edat
  • _dlc10.arc.edat, _dlc10.bin.edat
  • _dlc11.arc.edat, _dlc11.bin.edat
  • _dlc12.arc.edat, _dlc12.bin.edat
  • _dlc13_107.arc.edat, _dlc13_107.bin.edat
  • _dlc14_107.arc.edat, _dlc14_107.bin.edat
4. Copy all the files in that list that you have to OFA_eng/original_dlc.

5. Run patch_dlc.bat. This should produce patched versions of the DLC files in OFA_eng/patched_dlc.

6. Copy the files in OFA_eng/patched_dlc back over to dev_hdd0/game/BLJS10260/USRDIR, replacing the original files. (Again, note the game code here is BLJS10260 and not NPJB00611 even if you have the PSN version.)

Note that you also need the license files in order to use the DLC ingame. They have filenames of the form Ixxxxx0000000000.EDAT and belong in the folder dev_hdd0/game/BLJS10260/USRDIR. You won't be able to use the DLC if you don't have the license files.

Enjoy!

Hi, sorry for the nag, but the game has a huge DLC catalog. Could you elaborate which DLC does the translation apply to?

The entire DLC catalog has been translated. So depending on the dlc you have, it should be files that say "dlc01.edat","dlc02.edat", etc (there are up to 14 catalogs). So if you have all 14 you have to patch all 14 and put them in BLJS10260/USRDIR.

Anyone other than me playing this and would like to share tips? The DLC storyline seems crazy difficult.

Take your time, promotions are actually very important to increasing each of the idols to five hearts, so be sure to do both promotions that are in each rank. This is not timed like previous imas games.

Some skills from idols are more useful than other skills. For example, Azusa's skill of gaining hearts back during a burst is more useful during festivals and all star lives than auditions/regular lives. While Miki's and Chihaya's skills are always useful. and try to do your bursts near the end of the song too, so you'll get a few more seconds to rack up points.

Either go for a song that has high bpm or a song that has the lowest bpm. I believe Tonari Ni is the most broken song in the game. So worst case scenario, just go for that if you're in a pickle.

The point is "cramming a controller into a deodorant stick" and not "making the best possible controller".
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True I guess, to each they own. I know I've made some projects in the past that are cool to me, but others are like wtf.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Generally most of the "let's cram stuff into other stuff" projects are learning experiences, they're not meant to result in an actually useful product. But you learn a lot.

  • Veho @ Veho:
Once you've done a few of those, building something actually useful will come much easier.

I made myself a soundboard handheld w amplified speaker and 3d printed a case with 10 buttons. Loaded it with bird sounds. I sit on my porch alot and use it to talk to the birds, and they respond back to it. I think its cool but wifey thinks I'm crazy.

    What is otaku?

A Japanese term for nerds who are obsessed with one particular interest even more than their fellow nerds.

And that's coming from a culture where perfectionism and obsession is the societal norm.
