Hi guys, I'm from Brazil and would like to translate first some WiiWare games, like monkey island, I extract the wad file, and receive many .app.
Question is: It's possible to find text ou another programn to edit this kind of files?
It's possible to translate???

You likely could actually translate it, because you can unpack the wad and then edit the files before repacking it. Its easy and well known to edit languages for disc games (need a backup loader, I have done it before, unless you have a good patch it can turn out bad though) basically, but a good edit is tough.

For wad's, you can edit the unpacked stuff (like someone is working on tabs for the internet channel).

wouldn't it take a pretty long time to translate a game though, or is the entire thing really that easy and automatic (with a few mistakes every now and then)?

There is an automatic way, which causes very bad line isues (in short, you the text trailing off the side). This takes almost 35 seconds.

Then there is a text replacement patch or something and I know there is a pff replacement and I think it is essentially creating an entire replacement fix using the old text. I think you can also resize how large each line is but I don't know how to do it so you can use the original text.

Or better write your own Text extractor/inserter but of course first you need to find the text and then understand how the file where the text is works (is the text compressed, text offsets and so on).
Just look on romhacking.org and read some tutorials.

Yeah, I have edited a game like Wii d'absolu 2: Dark Echoes to english using the basic patch. Since games want to be mass manufactured, they come with every language on them. Just swap the thing saying JPN to ENG and vice versa everywhere (there can be multiple .dol files) and it will go to English.

thks guys, I try to find some text in .app files with hex editor, I think all text is compressed in these files.
I try to read some tutorials.
ISO edit is more ease, because you have all files scrutured.

Well this was only because they just ported the GC Version (and put already the text for other languages in it) most of the time it´s not that easy

Yeah I know, that is easy lol

. But since it wasn't that well done editing it had the text fly off the screen. Maybe might try to fix it though.
