this may be a dumb question idk

but is there a way to transfer a file larger then 4gb to a sdcard and im not transferring a game like nsp xci.

ive tried things like ftpd but they wont allow a file bigger then 4gb to get moved/copied

no, fat32 cant handle files over 4gb, thats the limitation of fat32, no matter what you try use, it will not accept files over 4gb.

The Switch supports split files, they have to be placed in a folder named in a specific way, and the archive attribute enabled on the folder.
This tool is able to do that work for you: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nspsplitty-gui-form-nsp-split-tool.551454/
I think it sets the archive attribute but if not you can easily set it in the properties window of the folder yourself.
Out of curiosity what are you needing to copy that's bigger than 4GB? Movies? On Switchroot Android I believe you can copy them to internal memory which supports larger files.

Your initial post said your not transferring games xci or nsp.

Now you admit that you are.

If you want help, then be clear what your doing.

    Let me explain.

A game may be 12gb as an xci or nsp.

But it is a container of multiple files.

Installers like tinfoil and goldleaf are able to copy the game files when installing.

But if you say your not doing xci or nsp you make it sound like you want a different file thats over 4gb.

So be clear, are you talking about xci or nsp files, yes or no.

It supports any file, just select "all files" in the file selection window.
Thought you said it wasn't a XCI or NSP.

Cant say ive seen a rom over 4gb.

If its an iso such as psp it could be split.

But then again, you dont use tinfoil for roms.

Installing and transferring are 2 different things. If your trying to install a switch game (the file will be nsp, xci, nsz, cxci) then use any installer you choose (personally I use tinleaf) to install via usb. Easiest method.

If your trying to transfer something (a psp game, movie, etc.) Your gonna need to split the file.

As others have said, fat32 has a 4gb limit size per file. So easiest method is to install via usb

Well what sort of ROM is it then? You might be able to trim it to take less than 4GB space.

I think this is a guy trying to sound like he doesnt pirate and isnt trying to run switch roms.

Yet everything it says leads back to trying to run xci or nsp.

If it cant be arsed to say what it wants, ignore it.

Im done as im confident with its back tracking it wants to ask how to copy switch roms over 4gb.... which is an easy search on here and can a guide can be found, but it can't be arsed to look nor can it be arsed to do a proper post.

Wii rom on switch, why when emulation is shit.

Wasting your time there, but look into wii scene and how to trim.

See, if you started your post as this, youd get your answer faster
