Apologies for the clumsy title - I hit 'enter' before I eant to!

I've been replacing my crappy black and white bookleted titles with US ones as all the other games I want to get are also cheaper in the US anyway and I'm kinda a perfectionist as I want them all to look similar.

So anyway, I picked up an SMS2 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...16583&rd=1&rd=1 to rip the saves and transfer them over, but DISASTER! I've tried it on Metroid Zero Mission and the SMS tells me that as it's different (original save game from ZEROMISSIONE and the US copy is ZEROMISSIONP) that it's a different game. But lets me put the data on anyway if I choose to do so. I did, but no joy.

Is there anyway to mod the save at all (whether on PC with another device, or with the built in editor), as I can see this happening with all of my titles?

Thanks for any help...

Wow, you were pretty lucky to grab one of those.

It seems that saves sometimes work across regions and sometimes do not work.

What you have to change, should you have to change something, may vary between games: for instance if the language was added in to the save then the rest may be shifted. If bugs were fixed/gamecode changed then all bets are off.

You then have the possibility of the save being hashed, then you have to find out what the hash is and what has been hashed (i.e. the first 200 bytes or the first 250.......).

The is a metroid level editor but no save I am aware of.:

Saves can be grabbed with any DLDI capable GBA slot device:

Or you could buy a linker for some older carts, maybe a cable (F2a or multiboot from PC) as well but the method above is pretty good.

They may not be worth much but they are sought after, ones you can connect to the PC especially.

As for not working, I had an idea. If you could get a save loaded in VBA then a savestate may work, other than that you are probably out of luck if coding is not your area.

Sorry, what's VBA?

Well, my backup device is not a PC capable one (although it seems to have a lot of additional features).

I'll be looking to ditch it once all my US games are bought and I've transferred the saves (or tried to).

Visual boy advance, one of the best emus of the GBA (no$gba is about the only thing that can compare).
There are several versions, vbalink and kode54's builds being my favourite:
kode54 builds:

VBAlink:

If it is not a PC capable version you are pretty much out of luck then as not much can be done from a GBA. Your best bet is either a linker or Chism's app (needs a DLDI capable cart): http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/SendSave/index.html
