I have bought a 500GB HDD to replace the existing 60GB HDD. I have about 10 games i will be wanting to put on the new HDD, this will take ages however over ftp server!! Would i be able to remove the 60GB HDD from the ps3, connect it to my PC and copy the whole PS3 HDD to a folder on the PC, then connect the new 500GB HDD to the PC, format it and then copy the old 60GB HDD folder with the 10 games to the new 500GB HDD.

Will this work or does the PS3 have to format the new 500GB HDD??

Do you have an external hdd? If so make it fat32 and download "open back up manager" and then you can copy the games from your internal hdd to external. The latest version copys games back and forth really fast.
