Hacking Transfer Save Question

i have been playing my rom on my G6 lite of pokemon diamond for awhile

now i wanted to migrate my pokemon from my old Advance games

so i went out and bought a real copy of diamond

i went to my rom of diamond and swapped the card with the real diamond and hit select and then hit Default to DS cart and it just freezes

is this supposed to take a long time or is something wrong?

HELP PLZ!
