afaik, he wants to use a different account, so I mentioned your script in that thread. I think it might be worth doing that, because as per my experience, game pkgs that were installed will crash almost immediately if the original account is absent. that's what it did to me with my old account. no issues with the aid I got from your script. that's when I was transferring saves from one account to another. I didn't realize slots had to be mounted individually, so I reflashed the old account to get those missing saves. that's when I noticed games would crash while under that old account.

Install PS-Phwoar! on 5.05, run the 'Save Data Backup' payload. (do a trophy backup too if you also want to copy those)
Go in to System settings and use the backup/restore app to make a backup of your profile. Do not select your saves in the backup!

Install the profile backup on your 6.72.
Run the Save_Data_Restore.bin on your 6.72

I've also included the trophy restore bin for 6.72 if you want to do the same with your trophies.:)

I haven't update the payload on PS-Phwoar! for 6.72 so thats why you will have to use the bin files instead.

Dealing with a newborn over here so just getting to this now but I appreciate the steps. I did a backup last week but I included the saves before I saw your line explicitly saying not to above. I know they won't import but will using that backup break the whole process? If so I can just make a new one and choose to not include them.

Question 2, using the built-in backup/restore, you said to backup profiles but on the new 6.72 PS4 I'll have to wipe the whole thing to restore even just the profiles right? It's an all or nothing type of deal? If I only get one shot to restore a backup then I may include some game package data and settings as well in the backup so I can have those on the new PS4 as well.

I just tried the above but all of my saves are corrupt on the new console..

So I did an official backup on my 5.05 choosing profiles and installed games only, not the saves.
I then did a Save Data Backup payload on that same console which worked fine.
Cool...
Now on my 6.72 Pro I restored the official backup with the profiles and games.
I then ran the save data restore payload which said "Save Data Found on USB0 for User: Chris" and it starts the restore.

I waited until this was complete and booted a game. When I launch the game I get a message saying "Cannot load the following save data because it is corrupted". Below that it says "The following saved data that was backed up by this system will be restored" with a timestamp of when I ran the restore payload. I hit OK to this however it then comes back and says "Cannot load the saved data because it is corrupted. This saved data will be deleted". This is happening with other games as well so it looks like all of the saves are corrupt. I can view them in storage but each time I boot a game I just see this.

I even tried the save backup payload again on my 5.05 and the save restore on my 6.72 a second time but the result was the same. Any idea what might be wrong? It shouldn't make a difference that I amusing the FPKG games that were originally installed on my 5.05 and restored via the built-in tool on my 6.72 right?

can't say for sure, but if those were originally legit saves, they'll show up as corrupt due to the keystone being wrong. the keystone is in the sce_sys folder.

They were FPKG saves BUT the FPKG's I personally made from my own disc dumps had keystones injected into them so I could use the package or a real disc with the same save. The passcode was still all 0's. It sounds like this might be my issue then? I didn't know the save restore payload only worked with FPKG games. Am I SOL or is there some other tool that can actually move these from one system to the other?

the keystone seems to be related to the passcode, so orbis will create a new one. the only way to use old saves is the -force command to replace the file with the original. I think that's the reason it needs to be done. I don't know if that's the problem you're encountering, but if you have a fakepkg save, it probably isn't. they're using the original keystone created by no passcode (all 0s). then, I don't know what the problem could be so best wait for @Leeful .

I dont know why it 's happening.
Its good that you still have the 505 console so we can easily playaround with things to try and solve the problem.

How many profiles are on the 505 and are any of them activated?
Are you doing anything else on the on the 672 between the times of restoring the official back and using the restore payload?

You could try this:
make an official profile backup but do not include any games or anything else.
install one of your smaller game pkgs (to save time) on your 6.72 and see if that works.

Hey @Leeful ,
Yeah I wanted a PRO so 6.72 was my excuse to get one thinking I could leave my original slim on 5.05 in case I ran into issues.

So my 5.05 has NEVER been online, it has two profiles on it but I'm only concerned with my "Chris" profile. Of course never going online neither has been activated.

Anyhow just tried what you recommended. I backed up only the settings on my 5.05, leaving out all games, screenshots, & saves. I then restored this onto my 6.72 which again went fine. I see my two profiles and no games on the hard drive. I then immediately ran the restore save payload at 5:57pm (note the screens) doing nothing else in-between.

I have two games I tried, YsVIII which I made the FPKG of from my own backup and injected the keystone. I also tried Oxenfree which I too own but have sealed so I used an FPKG I found online which I assume has not had a keystone injected. Both unfortunately still gave me the same problem. I shared the screenshots below of the screens I encounter.

The odd thing is the saves are obviously being transfered, and to the correct profile but they are corrupting when you load them.
The only thing I can think of at this momet in time is the savemounter method.:(

did you also transfer your trophys?
It might not make a difference but Its a quick thing to test.

instead of using the save data backup restore use the hdd upgrade backup restore. it will transfer the trophies and saves all in one.

Just use the hdd upgrade backup payload on your 505.
install the 'Just profile' official backup on your 672 then the hdd upgrade restore payload.

I dont think the trophies will make a difference but its worth a try.:)

I just went through and tried the hdd upgrade/restore. When I clicked trophies on the 6.72 PS4 I saw all of them from the 5.05 system but then the console started to "clean them up" from the screen and eventually said "you have no trophies" while I watched them disappear, as if it re-built whatever database these are stored in and realized they shouldn't be there.

I then tried YsVIII again but unfortunately the message was the same, that the save is corrupted and it wanted to restore from a backup as seen above.

Is there some other way, even if it's more manual like FTP-ing and copying, that I can get these saves over from the 5.05 to the 6.72?

I tried something else as well, building a FPKG for Ys again but this time not injecting the keystone. Not sure if it helps but the game behaved a little differently, this time after "The following saved data that was backed up by this system will be restored" screen it did not let me try to load the save, it immediately said it was corrupt BUT the game didn't say it was going to delete it like it did the first time... odd.

I hate tagging a developer as I know already they do so much for the community mostly out of the kindness of their hearts, but in this case my question really is only directed to one person, not to say "solve my problem" but to ask "can I help?"

@Leeful - Is there anything else you would like me to try or did you want to poke around with the mentioned savemounter method and get back to me? If so I don't mind leaving my 6.72 console in it's current state if it can help resolve something for future users. If you don't have any other ideas at the moment or lack the time then I'll try the save mounter manual injection method godreborn mentioned and start using the 6.72 PS4 as my primary. I wouldn't really want to wipe it at that point.

Has anyone else besides me tried the save backup/restore payloads on 6.72 and had success?

I suspect that corruption is either due to a keystone issue or pfs from one firmware to another. normally, you can't downgrade saves afaik, but I've never personally tried upgrading one. I'd imagine they worked, otherwise that would be a major fuck up by sony to where you'd have to backup saves with each firmware as a legit user.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

personally, I'd try account activator first. if that doesn't work, try save mounter unless you already tried account activator.

No problem mate, I'll always try and help anyone out if i can.:)

I've never had an issue transfering saves/trophys between consoles or HDDs using the above method so unfortunatly I don't know why it hasnt worked for you on this occasion.

I think at this moment in time your best bet is to use the savemounter method.
If I were you, before doing this I would activate your profile on a clean 672 first. That way in the future you can simply copy any saves to USB using the official Application Saved Data app on your 6.72.

In theory you could activate your profile on 5.05 and simply transfer the saves that way but there is a risk that you could loose all your saves on 505 so I would NOT advise trying it.
I did it on a 505 and I didnt loose anything but activating your profile on a profile with existing saves has a risk so don't try it just to be safe.

When @godreborn mentioned profile activation yesterday I had an idea. To my knowledge the PS4 itself doesn't actually know when a hard drive is swapped right? It will ask you to initialize a blank drive or a drive linked to another console, but you could in theory have multiple internal HDD's tied to one console as nothing on the console's motherboard/memory flags that a drive was removed, yes?

I have a spare 2.5 Hdd kicking around. My idea is to:
  1. Backup the 5.05 console to an external.
  2. Swap the spare (HDD2) into the 5.05 putting the original (HDD1) aside for now.
  3. Restore the 5.05 backup to the 5.05 console with the spare HDD2.
  4. Activate the profile on the 5.05.
  5. If all goes well and my saves are still looking good backup the 5.05 again to an external this time with the activated profile.
  6. Restore the 5.05 backup to the 6.72 console which should bring the saves along this time.
  7. Put the original HDD1 back into the 5.05 PS4 with the non-activated profile.
If any of the above failed I'd still have everything on the original 5.05 HDD1 with the non-activated profile which I could put back into the 5.05, and the console would be none the wiser I tried any of this. Any holes in this idea?

For anyone finding this post a year from now I just wanted to report that my idea worked perfectly. I threw the original HDD back into my 5.05 and have an offline profile with all my saves exactly as it was. On my 6.72 Pro I used the official tool and copied the profile I activated on the 5.05 console using the spare HDD. Everything moved over just fine and all my saves work on the 6.72 PRO.

@Leeful
sorry for my bad english
I have a question How to mount the trophy to the sandbox and download it with FTP, and it will automatically encrypt when exiting Is there a tool like savemounter?

Can you make one? Such as trophymounter or trophymounter.bin
