I formatted this drive with storejet formatter using FAT32 option but it gave a code dump when entering homebrew channel. i think newer versions of this drive cannot be used for wiis. even GParted Live cannot even created a partition table for this drive. and it showed unallocated 37.46gb space in it. weird. when choosing new in the drop down menu, it asked to create a partition table but the whole window disappears.

use EASEUS partition master to completely erase any partitions and format to FAT32

The problem with this hd (like many new drives) is the 4096 sectors.
Use for now Neogamma that's works perfectly with this drive.
Format it with Wii Backup Manager.

Always wanted to know why new drives didn't work well/at all.

As for Transcend, everything I've bought from them is junk. Just got 2 different Transcend SDs, neither work with bootmii. One of them broke on the first day (physically fell apart!)

In this case only the box is made by Transcend, the drive inside is a Samsung HM321HI.
