So I have now Flashed 2 different new 3ds's one Toshiba one Samsung, Is there any difference in the 2 beside size?

Does one control a TN top display and one chosen for the IPS Display?
wondering why there are 2 and 2 vastly different sizes.

It doesn't determine the screen type. It's just different memory (NAND) chips. They have nothing to do with anything else hardware related. Just manufactured by different companies.

    Besides size, there's no difference.

The NAND manufacturer is just determined by whatever they could get their hands on at the time of manufacturing, it doesn't really matter. The 3DS only uses 1.2GB of the NAND anyways.

Although, later you might want that 1.8GB NAND if developments allow us to actually use the unused space; for like DSiWare or misc. files just hanging on the NAND.

Messing with random files in NAND can cause NAND fragmentation and eventual (unrecoverable in some situations) brick.

What? I didn't mean messing with files that are already there. That wouldn't exactly be a benefit of having more space on your NAND...
I meant putting things like your OTP or stuff like that on there.

Samsung is SLC, Toshiba is MLC. The Samsung one should be more durable since it stores less bits per cell (1 vs 3).

    Why not TLC lol
Samsung SD & SSD are all TLC but the top performance type now

Because 3dbrew says so. It's MLC but implemented as SLC, so the durability should be better.
