Hey guys,
I want to create some custom NES-VCs for my 3DS. I want to play Games like Battletoads.
Are there any tools to create such VC-Games easily to play them on PastaCFW?

No, the 3DS isn't strong enough to play NES games

Wat

There are NES games on the eShop, as well as emulators.

@OP, on ***ISO in the CIA section, there is a pack of 152 injected NES VC games that'll probably have most of the games you'll want. I'm not sure of the process to make them myself, but there's clearly a method to do so.

Thanks. I will check it.

The CIA section with 152 roms are nice.. But they are a little strange. They are not filling 4:3 screen top-down. And they are not 1:1 pixel. So im a little disappointed. Hoping for Steveice NES emulator =)

Well you will have slowdowns on most of them. Battletoads will probably be fine though

Maybe as of currently, however the system itself should theoretically be powerful enough to work around this...eventually. At this point, it's basically just a question of optimizing it some. the Dreamcast had enough power to pull this off reasonably well, and i know one hardware pulling it off doesn't necessarily mean another one can, I do believe there should be enough power for the 3ds to do this pretty easily.

read this thread
https://gbatemp.net/threads/the-general-vc-rom-injection-thread-nes-gb-c-a-etc.371894/

but for the record, battletoads doesn't work, US version just crashes outright, and EU crashes after the intro....feel free to have a play about with it though, different VC games use different builds of the VC emulator, so despite it not working when i tried, using a different VC game as the base may yield better/worse results depending

All joking aside, your best bet is probably using a homebrew emulator that you could install as a channel. It will probably have better compatibility, and I'd imagine will run fine, being such an old piece of hardware

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
