Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD going digital next year

Speaking on the VGAs red carpet to Joystiq, Hawkman said the game would take “select” levels from the first two Pro Skater games, and include them in HD for first-half 2012.
Levels mentioned by Hawk to be included were School and Downhill.
A unveil had been initially teased earlier this week following a break this year after the shortcomings of Shred last year and Ride in 2009. It was through those failings that the series took a break.

I played them in my childhood but I really doubt I'd play them again. I don't know why I even played them then, I don't like sports games and skating games are included. It was fun to use some cheats though to fly around and play as Spiderman.

EDIT: The level creator was also really fun.

This. I remember I had 2 or 3 for my PS1 but I never really knew why. I was usually pretty good with it though and could score major points.Though I did use cheats a lot, mostly for big air and maybe spiderman sometimes, too.

Same as me, I used to love the games but i don't see myself playing it again.
I think it's pointless that they are making a new one but maybe some huge fans may play it.

I was the same way I hate sports, I hate skateboarding, but fuck, tony hawk 2 was fun.

Things I really want this to have

1) both original soundtracks
2) the original pro skaters, not the f***ing kids we have today
3) A very robust park editor and create a skater
4) Online play with at least 4 people, but 8 would be more awesome. You should be able to have private lobbies and play on custom parks and such

I would pay $60 and pre-order if it had all that. Also since when does Tony do a backflip? Thats Bob Burnquist's shtick

they were great games, would be nice if they ported over tony hawks 2x as that had all the maps from tony hawks 1 and 2, but being able to skate as Darth Maul or Spiderman was amusing

I wish they could bring back THUG1/2/AW, I actually like the old episodes, but I want some fun/free skating/random missions, not just skating against the clock.

After American Wasteland, the series died. Every game before that is amazing though.

They should put all the games up to then in one. Sell it for a full $60, and I'm sold.

Because everyone has been demanding another Tony Hawk game.

It would be great if they could bring back the magic the series once had, but considering how far it has fallen (Ride anyone?), I'm not getting my hopes up.

This is something I was wanting. I hoped for a back to basics TH game, cut the crap and gimmicks and just give people what they want. Wanted more of a "Greatest Hits" of the overall series but I'm sure we'll get another release with the rest.

I'd rather have the first 4 games released in HD. Never liked the rest of them. But you can bet if the Tony Hawks games were ever rereleased they'd ruin them by changing the soundtrack.

- Not sure. It would make sense to do the first 3 games, because THPS4 didn't have time limits. Then again, the 3rd game was on a different generation of consoles, and still have nice graphics.

The abilities in THUG 1 is right where Tony Hawk peaked for me, all of the new tricks and things they introduced in THUG 2 and on were too much.
