i had the 3.3v1 firmware, and then used the tona 3.3v2 update patch. when i put in city folk, the wii still asks for an update. Why? does the tona patch only allow you to get the wii shop channel without updating?

Yeah. Because Animal Crossing wants IOS38, and you don't have it installed on your Wii.

so, city folk doesn't have the 3.3v2 update? Aren't newer ios backwards-compatible with older ones?

Not sure. I haven't looked into it, but it probably does.

Just load the game through GeckoOS if you don't want to update.

using gecko OS works, but I'm still wondering why city folk still asks for an update. Playing an older ios game on a newer ios should work. For example, mario kart updates to 3.2, but still works on 3.3. I've done a clean update until 3.3v1, so I'm guessing the city folk game can detect i''m running a tona patched 3.3v2. The game should only check the ios version, which I should have the latest, so why does it still prompt an update?

This is an original retail copy right?

Use WUFE to extract the updates from the disc, and if you see an IOS38 install it via WAD manager.

    Then leave it alone. [IMG]

Make sure to report back if you find IOS38.WAD [IMG] nobody has confirmed the existence of IOS38 yet.

But it's highly likely that AC:CF is using a new IOS.

I never heard of a ios38, but don't they go in order? so a new ios would be ios52 or larger?

IOS38 is a supposed new IOS that can only be found in the AC: CF disc.

They don't get released in number order all the time. [IMG]

What happens if you don't install IOS38 and just play the game anyway? I mean with Starfall installed.
