SPD stands for Space Patrol Delta. The original Japanese series it was based off of, it stands for Special Police Dekaranger.

Wow, it's just nuts. Last time I watched 'Rangers was the Zeo age. The way they name these things kind of reminds me of the way they keep changing CSI. New characters, same basic thing.
