This is part of a cheapy set of re-releases over in Japan I think. I could be completely wrong and be thinking of something else though... or nothing to begin with.

Well, the musicproducer or some other guy that had a finger in the Sonic 3 soundtrack was also in charge of some Michael Jacksons tracks. It really wasn´t something Jackson himself participated in.

I'll tell you what's different. It's the title screen. There may be some other things too, but that's the most apparent one. It says Sonic Advance in Japanese characters in the large font and in English in the subtitle underneath and not vice-versa like in the oringinal one. Other than that, nothing's really different, I think.
