Lately, my DS Lite just sat on the shelf, collecting dust (no interesting games in the past month), but now that Pokemon is out, I decided to use it again.
But unfortunately, I saw a lot of dust got caught between the white and transparent plastic. Before buying a tri-wing screwdriver, I want to ask:

If I open the DS up, can I separate the transparent plastic from the white plastic in order to clean them? Thanks.
P.S.: Is it possible to buy an original Onyx DS Lite Shell from somewhere?

Do you mean the gap between the actual unit and the clear transparent casing along the sides of the DS? You can use a thin piece of paper to clear it out as the casing comes off at the sides a bit.

I had a white ds lite and those plastic bits got so dirty. I tried using paper but it got stuck on the corner and tried using sisscors to get the paper out.....I slipped and scratched my ds. I just replaced it for a black ds lite. Havent had it looking dirty yet.

That's because on the Black DS Lite the outer shell isn't transparent, THOUGH it seems there are some models with them, and some without.

The paper thing: Won't happen if you're careful enough [IMG]

What does it make so glossy if there's no transparent plastic, then?
My white Lite is getting uglier and uglier each day. :'(

P.S.: I figured looking for a broken black DS Lite on eBay is a pretty good idea. But the thing is ... I can't find any. I was able to do so 4 days ago.
    Help! [IMG]

Only white ones ... and they seem to be out of stock.
I'm a bit tempted to try Shock!'s Clear case, but if I could get my hands on the original Onyx case, that'd be awesome ... [IMG]

i just get a toothpick and jam it in, your ds case wont break, get the toothpick in a corner that sticks out, and then just slide it, the dirt will come right out, another word of advice open up your battery cover, when i cleaned my brothers girlfriends sons ds, i had to take it off since so much dirt collected inside, and omg was his ds dirty it had ketchup stains on the inside in the hinge, i finally replaced it with a black shock case because he dropped it and chips the corners of the ds hinge.
