Following a High Court order earlier this year and due to the success of TPB being blocked last year three more popular torrent sites are being blocked in the UK as of yesterday. KickAssTorrents, H33t and Fenopy were deemed to be facilitating copyright infringement, KickAssTorrents in particular is listed in the 50 top visited sites in the UK.

    Internet censorship continues.

If someone is technologically savvy enough to download torrents then they are savvy enough to successfully use Tor or something similar.
Unless i'm missing something here this is entirely pointless and fruitless.

Not necessarily anymore. Tons of tutorials on youtube, and uPnP support in routers allows things like torrent clients to communicate without manual configuration.

It's not as though this'll actually accomplish anything, since fundamentally the way that magnet links operate, a website domain isn't necessarily needed as they don't host anything.
Plus, proxy sites, tons exist already.

Either this is the best action they can take, or it lacks a fundamental lack of understanding of what they're combating.

Why all the hassle of tor software? Just Google "pirate proxy" and add the top search to your favourites. Job done!

But then by bypassing the block, they could possibly hit you with a charge that will actually stick, unlike copyright infringement.
Unless bypassing the block isn't illegal...

You would be surprised. For a lot of people piracy started and ended with things like limewire and the pirate bay etc. Even getting them to switch to using something as simple as a Tor browser to bypass the blocks is almost beyond them. For those sort of people, who are the majority, even adding a couple of more steps in the pirating process is probably enough to get them to give up completely.

big names although a report on BBC says music sales were unaffected by piracy. some criticized the report.

I think it makes a difference but unlike what ubi said, '95% of people have pirated the AC2 PC game'

"I have to copy and paste something? What?"
"Rename the file extension? You do it for me."

Works fine for me. Remember that the domain isn't the name spelled out anymore.

QFT. This is the BIG majority, they don't even know any other site than Kat/TPB.

I was using KAT after the TPB ban (since KAT mirrored most of the torrents), now I have to use a proxy to get around the ban since I don't trust many other sites on the web. If I could just get an invite to TVTorrents...

So which UK users on GBAtemp does this impact upon? I still have access and I can't be alone (well I just checked the h33t main page and that loads so I assume I'm fine...although I don't torrent anyway so it's by the by...)
