Three biggest dept stores in Australia won't stock Vita (for now)

Well I was going to.import it anyway, it's $350 at Dick Smith (yes that's what one of the store is called)

I love Dick Smith so much!

They'd probably end up stealing the Vita's anyway.

I think that those stores are just afraid of having them in stock because of their poor Japanese sales and don't want to risk money loss.
It doesn't seem to be popular in Australia, EBGames have stopped selling PSPs and new games for it about a year ago...
Just remember kids, I don't hate on Vita, my country does.

My best guess, would be EB games (Gamestop? to you Americans) If the big 3 aren't selling it and EB is, the prices are going to be ridicioulous, even if the big 3 were in play, EB would still put the product way over RRP, say $30-$50 extra... and on special it would STILL be more than the RRP -_- So all this does is allow EB to charge even more than they would've.

Am i wrong in thinking that it'd be DOA if the three more recognisable Video Game retailers in Australia had refused to stock it rather than 3 more multipurpose stores who's demographic may not be the Vita (taken from Internet searches it's still be stocked in the primary gaming establishments EB, GAME and JB Hifi - correct me if i'm mistaken Australian 'tempers)

Given the premium mark up that takes place in Australia surely it's not that surprising since those 3 stores would probably not want to take a risk getting early premium priced stock that doesn't shift.

jb aren't stocking 3g though and majority of parents buy gaming consoles from bigw/kmart/target due to their buying power and then come to us in an attempt to price match once those stores are out of stock...
also, RRP is $349 AUD ($372 USD) for wifi and $419 AUD ($447 USD) for 3g+wifi over here as opposed to 3DS at $249 (and regularly on sale around ~$199)

As I'm sure you'll see from my post history, I'm not exactly what you'd call a fan of Nintendo. My comment was merely poking fun at the fact that nearly all anti-vita news before has made it to the front page. As for dumbing down the forum? I think it does a pretty good job of that by itself, as your post has proven with it's obvious poke at myself.
It's okay though, not everyone is born with a sense of humor.

I believe he means that Sony have maintained their status quo with respect to public awareness. If Nintendo know anything they know how to advertise product....Sony on the other hand are clueless. Most people don't even know that there's a major new platform being released next week and that's just awful.....in one sense Sony almost deserve a bad launch for all the effort they've put in.


And don't even get me started on how bad i job i think John Koller is doing....

Not trying? It's practically PS3-quality graphics in the palm of your hand with a bagillion other functions. It's also the first handheld with two analog sticks. If this is "not trying" to you then you either have incredibly high standards, incredibly dumb standards, or both.

Unfortunately, perhaps moving forward on the same path isn't enough anymore when other paths show something different from the norm.

They just post a couple things on the internet and wait for community to spread it around, while most of us are busy playing with our shiny new 3DS systems. XD
