I deeply regret buying a Quest 2, even though it is currently the best bang for your buck (in my opinion), because of FaceBook and the people in charge. I'm pissed at Oculus for selling out. I hope meta crashes and burns.

Whether it's ugly is subjective, you may just think it's ugly because you don't like it.

I'm not rushing to use it, but I figure that a lot of people would wonder why large sections of my life on on irc & discord. So maybe the metaverse is for them.

There's a gentlemen on youtube that explains basically everything wrong with the concept of the Metaverse from top to bottom. Personally, its concept would only be remotely pleasing if it was something far, far away from Zuck's hands.

Ever saw or read Ready Player One? Its basically that, but controlled by Facebook.

So you are not really far off from that statement.

It's a meme. It's also the same old internet, with avatars and a fancy name, AKA Second Life.
It's nothing new and it changes nothing. A marketing jargon for the sake of hyping up the void it is.
