i've got quite a collection of ebooks on my PC, some more rare than others, and was willing to share them with the good people on the internet.
but for all this effort, I would like something in return, so I came accross sites like FileIce and FileFactory, which give you money per (100) downloads. Not a lot, but better than nothing

but has anyone on here done such a thing before? what is the best service?do they actually pay?
the files I'll upload aren't mine of course, I have no rights whatsoever.

    so yeah, opinions/experiences please

If you have something that is absolutely rare. If your collection is common, people would rather torrent an ebook collection for free.

This is illegal to do unless you have the authors copyrights.
You could end up paying a big fine or even end up in jail.
Besides you WILL NOT GET RICH BEING LAZY.

    Get a proper job.

I know FileIce pays but it's pretty pointless as no one is going to download because of the surveys.
People actually pay to not use FileIce.

    This is normally true.
However, I myhself make a good bit of money from YouTube. Not livable, but I do have 64 subscribers, which means I could be making more in the future. Many YouTubers do make a living off of it, and I have a friend who does.
That's just an example of an "easy job". Easy being it's fun, and good for everyone involved. Nobody loses out.

haha the only files that will make you a buttload of money that a LOT of people will download are the ones that Mr. Dotcom had on his website..the ones that he purposely didn't delete because they were profitable :tpi:..or like Hako with his PSP website...you have to do something that will GET A LOT OF TRAFFIC. and most of the time..downloaded files websites are most of the time allowing people to get shit for free

and if it's a program that is linked from youtube (lol: fake steam cracker) ...there's a special place in hell for people that that ..so. ..NO SURVEYS.

my advice. get a job and work for your money. nothing is going to come to you by just sitting on your ass watching dough fall into your bank account...unless...you're a youtube partner who does stupid idiotic shit and gets rewarded for it, a drug dealer or a pimp..and even then they got dem hoes or cartels to keep in line :P

and the people that own those ebooks (the actual owners) would like to have your ass on a plate for talking like that. And most likely...if you do upload them. They will be removed for infringement..if they get that popular on the FBI monitored downloading "radar"

that's like downloading a movie. Yeah. it's frowned upon. but when you want to be rewarded for your "effort" for all the "downloading" you did. And burn DVD's and sell them. That's a problem..and could get you intro trouble. Not as much trouble as...distrubuting copyrighted ebooks per say. But still trouble.

Sounds like too much effort for too little money. I've sold counterfeit watches and made an assload of cash before getting caught. The moral of the story is if you're going to break the law at least make it worth it

True, but it can also be really time consuming for post processing and everything. If you have no experience doing this it's not really an "easy job".

Back on topic; that's not gonna work. Chances are since you publicly stated that the works are not your own now someone down the road is gonna bite you in the ass and you'll pay a large fine and probably spend some jail time (country dependent really). Yeah, don't do it. Also hardly ANYONE uses those sites without paying for a bypass or using a script or something to bypass it.

Personally I don't think you should try to try to earn money off someone else's works. Whereas copyright infringement with no profit in sight might be questionable to some degree, profiting off someone else's work is not only very much illegal but also a rather foul thing to do towards the original author.

All you do is get money for ads on Youtube. The more subscribers and views you have, the more ad revenue Youtube gets and the more money you get.

Great in theory but it leads to a lot of "LIKE + SUBSCRIBE!" whoring and lets talentless hacks like PewDiePie make money from shlockfests he calls Let's Plays.

On the other hand it does let creative minds like Egoraptor persist so that's a plus.

I've made money "off of other people's work" but it's just not worth it. I can tell you right now from experience that you'll make a lot more if you're legit. I got caught but lucky for me nothing happened. Besides you really don't want to be looking over your shoulder all the time

FileIce gets you 1$ per download.
How much money are you trying to make?

I have a lot of subscribers...but my videos get rejected for ad's..and I don't use copyrighted music....Newgrounds only. yet Sony claimed one of the tracks from newgrounds was theirs.

my most viewed video is a PSP review. Shows gameplay. half a million views. you think I could submit that video?

If you are making the videos yourself I do not consider that lazy.
Besides youtube is no filehoster. Uploading copyrighted material is something different and this was the reason I posted.
The OP planned on breaking the law, he should be warned. As a side note, the people at youtube make A LOT OF MONEY of the work YOU worked hard to upload.
The difference is, you agreed to their policy for them to make money over your back...If the material you present on youtube is "golden" I would advise you to setup a similar structure to make money the way you call, "easy". This way YOU WILL OWN THE COPYRIGHT of your "hard"work.
