I've had my 80GB PS3 for a couple of years now, but its one without backwards compatability. Seeing as the original 60GB had backwards compatability, I'm thinking about selling my current one and getting a cheap 60GB one. Then to compensate, will probably get a bigger HDD.

Is this a good idea, or just completely pointless..

If you can find one for cheap I'd do it. When I bought my BC model, it cost me $200, which you can buy a new one with... The BC models are generally more expensive on places like eBay.

It's not recommended to switch a *working* PS3 for a *god knows if it had YLOD's before or not* PS3 for the sake of the very buggy PS2 compatibility.

You're better off just getting a PS2 and a modchip for it or another method of launching backups/homebrew.

Proud to be Portuguese but I am in USA.
PS3 Phat always have YLOD or possibly to have one. The Slim doesnt. You are better off just getting a PS2 slim or phat.

Hmm guess I will stick with the one I have already. Reason I was thinking about switching, is my god knows how old PS2 is pretty malfunctiony at times, and the thought just randomly came to me.
