A brand new firmware update is available for the console, bringing it to version number 5.5.5. This update scared me half to death! I ran over to these forums right away to see if Nintendo was doing one last patch on hacking. Guess they aren't Still scared me becuase we haven't had an update in a while.

Once I got the Switch, while I don't play it daily anymore, I'll never get rid of the U. Can't beat 3 generations of home consoles NATIVELY on one system. Crazy talk these days.

Thats just a standard in the industry the PS3 and Xbox360 have both gotten an update within the past 2 years or so.

but at least on PS3 it made sense: the blu ray keys need to be updated yearly or newer movie discs stop working.
The 360 had some nonsensical updates as well but in reality they had some real improvements like the 16GB limit for USB drives was lifted or how the Xbox emulation was slightly improved because these same games were being sold to Xbox One and Series devices..

I tried updating to 5.5.5, but it fails as soon as the Downloading bar appears, then sends the error immediately.

Anyone remenbers what methods there were for blocking updates on WiiU?
I might go ahead and update just for shits and giggles.

Check DNS settings.

For iosu, some ssl-cert verify related function now accepts enum values 0x14, 0x1B (previously 0xB/0xC/0xF/0x10).

There's x509 lookup logic in the 0x14 case.

There may, of course, be changes in other OSv10 modules, but not in IOSU.
