Hello everyone, i have this wii that i received from a friend. after playing it a couple of times with the discs it came with, i stopped playing it.
Recently, i decided to install homebrew onto my wii to get all of the cool features. when i checked my wii, it has neogamma in it so i presume it is already hacked.
Nonetheless i still follow the letterbomb method that i found in the internet, until i got this message appear in the middle of the process (see attached).
after some research, i found out that the wii might have something called "cioscorp"(?) in it but i'm not taking it since the thread was from 2009.
any help would be appreciated!

I remember that "cioscorp" being a thing back then. My advice, if you want to mod your Wii. Download ModMii and use ModMii Wizard. You'll have to spare a few hours of your time, but the end result will be well worth it.

Have you tried running syscheck?

It sounds like a fakesigned ios is installed.

Doesn’t wiping only affect user data and not e.g. ios?

I am not sure. A Format would wipe user data but could leave Wii vulnerable. ModMii should install "overwrite" all IOS from my understanding. Xflak would know best. I remember cioscorp being a pain for alot of users.

Hello. :)

Do you have access to PRIILOADER ?
PRESS and HOLD "RESET" on your WII and POWER it on.If yes PRIILOADER appears,if no,not so good.

Do you have access to the HOMEBREW CHANNEL ? If yes, thats great,if no,not so good.

Thank you.:)

Hello and thank you for your update.:)

Thats very sad and makes it sadly not easier to help you.:(

Maybe one chance is to update your Wii to the latest version 4.3 if you do not have done this before. And maybe an FACTORY RESET of your Wii.Then you can do the LETTERBOMB again or you can use @XFlak´s ModMii Tool for do a complete Softmod including Letterbomb.

You can also try

str2hax
https://gbatemp.net/threads/a-channel-less-sd-less-entry-point-str2hax.523210/

or

FlashHax

https://gbatemp.net/threads/new-free-homebrew-entry-point-flashhax.491674/

too but your main problem are your "dirty" 'IOSes.

I had here an similar issue and maybe an solution for you:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/problems-installing-homebrew-channel.538872/

The only chance i think is this:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/problems-installing-homebrew-channel.538872/page-4#post-8659065
(please continue reading the thread)

You can to use the MultiModManager 13.4 Tool
http://www.hacksden.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=93

to install ONE "clean" IOS (maybe 58 or 61) to get HackMii/Letterbomb or whatever to work and install Homebrew on your Wii.

Good Luck.:)

You can run ModMii's hackmii solutions guide to assist getting a couple clean IOSs installed and the hackmii installer working
I just tried the ModMii's HackMii Solutions. Everything was going smoothly.. until step three which is the homebrew installation. This guide is the one i followed in particular (see attached). i decided to do the steps again 3 more times, and still no dice. things i did :
- load lego batman's bathaxx to open MMM
- installed the wads provided with IOS 36 (or IOS 250) loaded successfully
- opening HackMii_Installer which resulted in the same error

maybe i should try to run syscheck, but i have no idea how to do that without homebrew.

Put the syscheck boot.dol in the SD root, overwriting whatever you currently got there. Or just rename the current dol to something else for the time being
I got the syscheck working, here's the result :

Drag and drop the syscheck.csv file onto the modmii shortcut, it will download the necessary ios's.

I did that, and went through the steps provided but still the problem with installing homebrew persists. Here's the new steps that i received (see attached). what i did :

- open MMM with bathaxx
- install preloader from app manager
- load IOS 236 and install all of the new WADS
- load IOS 58 and while installing homebrew the thing shows up

any other suggestions?

If that is your current Syscheck, I see 7 or so usable IOS for HBC.

I can tell you it was perfectly fine to have both cIOSCORP/DARKCORP and the most recent HBC both at the same time as I did it for a while, I only got rid of DARKCORP because I stopped using disks and moved to USB.

Try booting into the regular Wii Menu and goto Options - Data Management - Save Data - Wii, look to see if there is anything for HBC. If there is it will be a blue/teal icon and say "the Homebrew Channel", and delete it. While you are in the option menus, double check Options - Data Management - Channels for HBC, there really shouldn't be anything there but delete it if there is.

At this point either just try to reinstall HBC using the App manager in MMM or first reinstall the IOS listed in HackMii Solutions guide:

IOS31-64-v3608
IOS33-64-v3608
IOS34-64-v3608
IOS35-64-v3608
IOS36-64-v3608
IOS58-64-v6176

then try to reinstall HBC using the App Manager from MMM

You can't really have both DARKCORP and cIOSCORP, they do the same thing (which is overwriting every IOS), meaning one will overwrite the other.

I checked the channels and save datas, and there is no homebrew channel (pictures attached). I also went and reinstall the IOS listed... and still the message shows up.

any other suggestions??

It should be working... but since it's not the only other idea I have to get the hackmii installer working is to perhaps install an older version of some ios's, like IOS36 for example

The good news is, since you already have cios's installed you can just install the open homebrew channel wad from here:https://github.com/FIX94/hbc/releases/download/1.1.4-1/Homebrew.Channel.-.OHBC.wad

Then the only drawback will be that you haven't got bootmii installed, but it will at least solve your HBC problem
