    According to Nintendo themselves:

    But more importantly,

Isn't it possible that the very same local wireless connection signals for local wireless multiplay are actually the streetpass signals? And if that's so, wouldn't it be possible for us to use the Streetpass Relays to spoof local wireless play over the internet, specifically, maybe using something like "Nintendo_3DS_continuous_scan_000", I understand that Streetpass Relays only allow individual 3DS to connect every 8 hours, but theoretically, there should be a way to bypass that limitation, and one of the easiest way would possibly be something to do with "Nintendo_3DS_continuous_scan_000"? (My understanding might be a bit off, if so, I would appreciate some corrections)?

I don't think this would work properly because local play must require very low latecy.

But is there any 3DS game with local multiplayer but no online multiplayer support?

Has anyone taken apart the 3DS Download Play app to see the protocols used?
