I'm happy to offer my latest skin for your enjoyment (or derision if that's how you "roll"). Because it is a "complete theme" you'll need to replace your _DS_MENU.DAT with my modified one to use it. So, check out the readme file and let me hear from you. Bonus points to anyone who can correctly identify the most in-game screen shots used in the logo & bckgrd_2 screens.

    ------------
    description:
    ------------

r4ds two-point-oh is a total theme replacement for the R4DS flash cartridge
for the Nintendo DS. ÂIt was designed and tested using kernel 1.11 - and is
offered for use at your own risk. ÂFeaturing a flagrant abuse of drop
shadows, reflections, gradient fills and violator symbols this theme can be
viewed as both parody and homage to the aesthetic commonly referred to as
*Web 2.0*. ÂMeanwhile, a main goal was to remove or mask as much of what
some call unnecessary (and all deem ugly) kernel generated text. ÂSo, if
you enjoy being reminded what language you're reading or fancy pointless
file revision dates or repeating of selected filenames - this isn't the
    theme you're looking for. Â

r4ds two-point-oh skins the following R4DS UI elements:

    - logo.bmp
    - icons.bmp
    - bckgrd_1.bmp
    - bckgrd_2.bmp
    - brightness and soft reset controls
    - game icon panel(s)
    - full file icon set

    ------
    usage:
    ------

    **********************************************************************
**before installing it is recommended that you back up your original**
    **_DS_MENU.DAT file and your _system_/themes directory       Â**
    **********************************************************************

Replace your _DS_MENU.DAT with the custom one included in this archive (put
a copy of your original in a safe place for when you want to switch back). Â
Then disable the /_system_/themes folder by renaming it to something like
"themes_disabled". ÂRename the folder back to "themes" to go back to the
    skin changer mode.

Not at all, this theme is embedded in the custom _DS_MENU.DAT file that I've created (replacing the *interesting* default one. What you should do is simply 1)backup your original _DS_MENU.DAT 2)replace it with mine & 3)rename your themes folder to something else (like themes_disabled). That way the theme switcher won't override the default one embedded in the .DAT. When you want to go back to your old theme(s) just swap the _DS_MENU.DATs again and rename your theme folder back.

True, you can still leave the theme switcher enabled but you'll really want to restore the original _DS_MENU.DAT file to use with your other themes because the custom icons, buttons & text colors I have embedded in this one might not blend (style-wise) with other skins. But that's why I keep an original version of the _DS_MENU.DAT file in a folder called unmodified on the root level of my card so I can switch whenever.

    Nice skin indeed.
Question, is there a chance that something may be screwed up by using this?
Since there is a few other thing i need to do i see to install this than other skins i've used..

I don't think you run a risk of damaging anything but I'd be careful to make sure you match the _DS_MENU.DAT with the proper kernel version - v1.11. I imagine there could be instability trying to use it with an older kernel version. Frankly I'm enjoying the ease of installing this type of theme versus the individual .bmp's + .ini file. Anyway, it won't hurt to back up your microSD before trying it out - and you should be completely covered but probably only backing up the DAT file is sufficient.

Hmm backup is not needed.... if you get errors just redownload the 1.11 kernel..

Hmm okay, gonna give it a try =)
Another question, if a new kernel should come like 1.12 for example will this skin stop working then? or?

Edit: The skin is looking nice and working great here!

I would love to see different variations of this theme. Maybe different colors, icons, etc. I don't like this particular one but seeing as it's different from the ones i see in that other thread, it's a nice change. You don't see many custom _DS_MENU.DAT files so this is a huge step in themes.

I like it, maybe if it was a little cleaner, but I guess it's hard to be clean in a small space.
