The Xbox 360 Marketplace is closing down today

xbxox.png

The fated day is here. Last August, Microsoft said they would be shutting down the Xbox 360 Marketplace forever, on July 29, 2024. With the closing down of the storefront set to happen any minute now, it's the end of an era. The Xbox 360's digital store launched in November 2005, with the shuttering stranding plenty of classics that were exclusive to the platform. At the very least, any purchased games will still be available to download to your system, but if there's any games you've been waiting 19 years to play, this is your final chance.

What were your favorite titles on the Xbox 360, and are there any games you wish you got the chance to play?

Makes sense as the online service is still active... But until when?
It also looks like you can still purchase previously unobtained DLC from the 360 dash (in instances where the title/content wasn't delisted). Press X on any title in your library, go across to 'extras' and all available DLC is still purchaseable.

I almost got a hacked 360 once but I didn't because way too many of the games also had PC versions and I got a PS3 instead, still the thing was neat in hindsight.

Turns out this isn't true... while it appears to be purchaseable, actually trying to purchase any content this way (full game or dlc) results in an error screen that says the content may still be available to purchase via newer platforms or PC.
If anyone can verify that downloading content on x1/series/pc systems makes it available on 360 that would be great info to know (my Xbox journey ended with 360, so I don't want to risk purchasing anything I won't be able to access).

Any Free DLC that hadn't already been downloaded is still downloadable (went through pretty much my entire digital and physical library to get all updates and available content), although some items, like gamerpics, seem to have been delisted in some cases.

Code redemption still works for unused codes - I sacrificed my still sealed copy of Alien Isolation Nostromo Edition to verify this ;)

Seems like some previously downloaded Games With Gold titles have been removed from my library, and there are also a few instances of unknown removed titles in my download history that just show up as 'Content Unavailable'.
