Information may be scant right now, but what we do know for a fact is that Worms is returning later this year. Publisher Team 17 just confirmed that a new Worms game is slated for release in 2020, offering a teaser trailer that promises more information to come "soon". This will be the first new game in the series since 2016's Worms: WMD, which released on all current-generation consoles and PC. Worms is a long-running "strategy" franchise, which saw its first release all the way back in 1995, for DOS, the Sega Saturn, the Amiga, and other retro platforms.

Grab your Bazooka and jump on your Sheep, the Worms are back in 2020 like you’ve never seen them before.

Worms2: Loved the visuals, made my own soundset (including my favorite cameo: my girlfriend cursing), put in many many hours multiplaying killing myself accidentally at the worst times...

How exactly is the latest game, WMD, not like a refined version of the old Worms games (like 2, Armageddon, and World Party)? Sure, it has more modes you can optionally play, like forts, or things like vehicles you can toggle on and off, but the core mode is still there in the style of the best games in the franchise and even better if you ask me.

Oops, I have to say, I haven't played worms for years, I forget the name of the last one I played, but I didn't enjoy that many options/features were different or removed.
I assumed they got worse and worse/more different and modern to be honest, but yeah I may be wrong.
If WMD is a refined version of the old games like you say, that sounds amazing and I will check it out

god no not another one. will it be exactly the same as the last game(s) with the same boring gameplay, weapons (that all do the same thing explode), nerfed rope and levels? count on it!

You must have been remarkably mediocre at the game to think the weapons all do the same thing. That's not even remotely true.
