The Witcher IV announced at The Game Awards

CD Projekt Red took to The Game Awards to make it officially official: The Witcher IV is confirmed, with a 6-minute cinematic trailer to accompany the reveal, showcasing Ciri as the new protagonist of the series. Beyond just the trailer, CD Projekt Red had an exclusive interview with IGN, detailing that they'd lost a lot of trust from their fans when Cyberpunk 2077 initially released in a poor state, so development on The Witcher IV will not be as rushed, with the game's director stating the following:

Okay, so first and foremost, let it cook. Secondly, the way we produce right now also changed in a very good way, meaning that we are very mindfully defining the stages of the production. We are very mindfully trying to scope it, making sure that the foundation is there.

To be very honest, I already see that it helps us to make sure that whatever we create right now is super coherent across the board. And this way makes us feel that we control this super complex environment more than we used to control. And that also makes everyone feel more secure when it comes to developing generally on a daily basis.

CD Projekt plans for its employees to have a better work-life balance throughout the creation of The Witcher IV, while also being more transparent about the stages of the game's development.

So the way we work right now is of course different, but also we are looking at the whole development process, not only from the development point of view but also on the communication, the leadership, the clarity. We actually have to be on top of our game to be able to deliver the best game possible. So it's complex, but I'm pretty proud of where we are right now when it comes to the overall processes.

Oh wow, they just completely killed this franchise for me, playing as Ciri was by far the worst part of Witcher 3 for me. I found it such a chore to get those those sections.

It looks like Ciri is a Witcher now, hopefully the game is good (I have faith In CDPR), I'm sure my opinion will change at launch, just this was the one thing I hoped they wouldn't do.

Ciri being the main focus after three games is one of the few directions they could go to evolve the story without rehashing the same old shit. The books have set Ciri up as Geralts child, and so she is the obvious choice to continue his legacy as a new kind of Witcher.

I’m sure we will see Geralt in the games, perhaps like a Vesemir or at the butt end of unicorn related jokes. But all of that’s to say, if you think that this game is the exception for being diverse and inclusive maybe you haven’t actually played or read anything about the Witcher series before.

Cue the angry chuds whining about a female protagonist.

Ciri's parts in the Witcher 3 were kinda meh. Seeing her side of the story was much more enjoyable than her combat. Hopefully, the combat in the Witcher 4 will be more dynamic and fun. Plus, judging by the cinematic, it seems magic may play a bigger role in her fighting style. Maybe we'll see her doing some training under Yennefer and Triss?

ehh Ciri is way overrated in the books and the games.
She wasn't even in the first two games that people loved.
I found her stories to be the worst part of the Witcher 3 too.

I would have preferred to play as alt. universe Geralt or something like my own custom Witcher.

I think we've reached the preference cascade with these types games full of girl boss bisexual/lesbians and more preference cascades in real life too.
(explanation of preference cascade that honestly blew my mind https://x.com/pmarca/status/1867679954886148168 )

The problem with custom characters is that sometimes the story can't be as tight as it sometimes it needs to be.

Coax wire today is much better (RG6) than old school coax (RG58/59). Newer wire more expensive than the older wire.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You can buy it at any length @homedepot wire cutting area cheaper than buying preformed cable, but you have to put on your own ends/ connectors.

I still like DTV but the wire wasn't long enough to reach the window still pick up 40 channels

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is 1 Hispanic channel I kept, sometimes they have soap operas on it, w scandalous clothed hotties, I just beat mute it.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
Ah yes the Juan channel order 15 pairs of feet

I got this antenna but the damn thing has usb power right next to the coax plug and you can't actually extend it without usb extension the Pic makes the cable look longer than it actually is https://a.co/d/501IQf2
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Use a old phone/ USB charger block thing, plug into wall instead of tv usb. Use cheap extension cord if need.
