"The Thing: Remastered" gets a shadowdropped release alongside a brand new trailer

The original "The Thing" videogame released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PCs back in 2002 has received a brand new remaster courtesy of Nightdive Studios.

The original game served as a sequel to the highly acclaimed horror film "The Thing" from 1982 with Kurt Russell , following the story after the ending of the movie with a U.S. Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the disappearance of the research team on an Antarctica base.
Nightdive Studios released a new trailer on December 5th during the PC Gaming Show, and in a completely unforeseen move, Nightdive Studios shadow-dropped the game on the very same day for multiple systems.

Some of the new features for this remaster include:
  • Faithful restoration of the original game
  • Remastered graphics, textures and 3D models
  • Antialiasing
  • Per Pixel Lighting
  • Up to 4K Resolution
  • Up to 144 FPS
  • Modern controller support
  • Multiple languages
  • Achievement support
"The Thing: Remastered" is now available for Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch, Steam, GOG and Humble.

For what I have seen this was a 7/10 game. Only worth remembering because it was based on a movie and was actually okay.

Looks alright...

A remaster is supposed to just be the ability to play it on modern systems. Small upgrades to lighting and textures etc whilst keeping it pretty much how it was so people who enjoyed the original can play it again with a dose of nostalgia.

If you look at this thinking it will be a remake, with vastly updated visuals, then you'll be disappointed. It's not trying to be that.
