I am not sure if this applies to you but in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, if you unpacked the rom, it was possible to delete the file that had the censored words in them.

I've only read the first chapter but I have to say I'm hooked already!

Also, the audio file really gives it some atmosphere. Highly recommend to read along with it!
