I see for Nov 11th sale they will have "MIG Switch V2 NS Flash Cartridge" for "Upcoming price $53" (usd), so with $5 off coupon from ali front page, should be able to buy it for $47. The store I saw that price on was called "Winner Game Store" but there might be other better/cheaper stores...

Hi folks - just looking into possibly getting a V2 and dumper. Quick question, and apologies if it was answered already in the first 80+ pages:

If my use-case is to dump my own legally-owned games and use the MIG as a multi-cart for those ONLY, is there a ban risk?

I used the Sky3DS for many years for this same basic purpose and loved it. I have a ton of physical games and would enjoy the convenience of one cartridge, especially when travelling. However, I'm not interested in risking a ban if that's a legitimate possibility.

Without reading 85 pages, can someone answer me if you can play online with the mig switch, without Nintendo Ninjas banning your console? Are cartridge games coded in a way so that Nintendo can tell if you're using a ROM on a flash card and not a real cartridge? From What I understand, roms, unless they added some lines like in the past where you found out that Nintendo used downloaded ROMs for their virtual console, shouldn't be unique but always the same data. So if you dump your own games, then sell them, you shouldn't have issues, unless Nintendo detects the flash cart itself, right?

If not this makes little sense and modding your switch is a much better idea, especially thanks to overclocking which gives insane performance advantages to the stock Switch with an OLED Unit.

no ban risk unless you play dumped games on two o more different consoles at the same time.
So each cartridge game has a unique serial number? Damn... Nintendo was really thorough this time eh?

Just don’t play pirated or downloaded games and you’ll be fine

Nintendo already did this with the 3DS, but forgot to check whether the serial number matched the game you were playing. So you could use a single secret serial number (a private header) across all your games.

That doesn't answer my question, also it's not pirating, I'd use a copy of my own game, which I'd happen to sell some time later and perhaps someone would use it online later and get banned themselves. It's hard to imagine they have serial numbers hidden on every cartridge data but I guess it's not impossible and there have been people getting banned for using pirated (not self dumped) roms in the past.

Crazy, thanks for the information, well I guess it wouldn't trigger in my case but if you use pirated ROMs you got from some site that are mass distributed they for sure are getting flagged. Begs the question though, why Nintendo wouldn't bake in that data into their firmware updates for "stability" reasons, so those pirated rom copies cause an immediate ban, even when you're offline/have the Nintendo IPs blocked. That's what I'd do in their stead :D

If you sell your carts, and somebody else is playing that game online while you are also playing online, then yes you both can be banned.

From what I read from others it would be also a ban if you didn't play, by just having the game on the cart and inserted, so an IP block would be needed. It's more of a theoretical question, trying to understand how they do things. I'd use the mig switch for convenience reasons mainly, not having to take 10+ switch games with me on the go, which I could also lose. I have a launch switch which I can use for dumping my own carts, so I probably wouldn't need to get that expensive dumper from them.

No need to when you have telemetry. You play a pirated game, it's logged, and whenever you next connect the banhammer strikes.

Don't use public dumps, don't sell your carts and you will be safe.

not only a unique serial number, A UNIQUE CERTIFICATE, which can be traced down by the ninjas.
damn, so if they wanted to, they could even lock cartridge based games to your account, like they do with online purchases. Hope they don't get any bad ideas for the Switch 2 then, that would kill the used game market. But I guess they wouldn't go that far.

Are Sony and MS doing something similar with their games on Bluray Discs? (I guess so, seeing how MS wanted to make physical games bound to your account back on the Xbox One before... Luckily there was a huge backlash about it)
