Hardware The stupid Wii Zapper sucks.

Yeah so the title says it all. Is there a better third party alternative? I see a lot of them in Dealextreme but I would like to hear from the people here first before making a purchase. For those curious, I tried using the Wii Zapper with games like Ghost Squad, RE, and my hands get the cramps.

you actually got suckered into buying a piece of plastic casing? I'm surprised people are actually paying for a shell. Well there are third party shells coming out soon I think, I've seen a few gun-like shaped peripherals that look better than the wii zapper, though how they handle I don't know.

Anyone else gone ahead and bought one then?

Yeah, get the shell get a free game. It wasn't expensive or anything, and some people do buy games. So can we get back on track and recommend a good 3rd party solution?

Imho the guncon3 for ps3 is looking a lot more cool than this little toy

They should really make a proper light gun for the Wii. I'd buy one in a second.

I hate how you can't look down the sights of the Wiimote so it fires exactly where you point. Really ruins all the shooting games for me

yeah ive been interested in getting a gun for the wii for a while, but i havent really seen anything that looks that great.

And not just a piece of plastic, but one that actually maps the b button to a new trigger.

it looks like it might be kind of fun, but I'll wait for some customer reviews before I pick one up.

from the other reviews i've read it seems like the biggest problem with all of the gun attachments is that it makes it ridiculous/impossible to press the buttons on the top of the wiimote, which is pretty important in most games.

I would recommend in buying the original Wii Zapper.

These 3rd-party shell don't use the Nunchuck at all in some cases (resulting in an unplayable game) or have a different position for Nunchuck and Wiimote.

This could cause some problems with games, because they're programmed having Wii Zapper in mind, instead of the 3rd-party one.

I also feel that having a free game with the Wii Zapper makes it a lot more appetible than buying one of those cheap 3rd party ones.

wel those guns are fun when you are with friends and then you can play for fun, but i would prefer the wii-mote in 1hand and the nunchuk in the other 1

Dealextreme has wiimote+nunchuk for $65. It's not a good deal in the US since the standard retail price of wiimote is $40 and nunchuk is $20, but I've heard it's a great deal for UK.
