according to the tech site T3 a rumor cropped up that can leave Sony executives sweating according to the article...the disc based series X will be around the low 400's (USD) where the series S all digital console will be as cheap as a switch lite ($200 USD) now you maybe saying "an unnamed source pfffft can't be real" just remember it's the games that makes the profit not the console you can read more here

Gaming PC with 1tb SSD, 16gb ram and gpu equal to rx 5700 for 400$? Sound too good to be true. If it's the case it's gonna be day 1 purchase for me.

If I had to pick between the Series X or the PS5 I would go with the series X because my $$$ would last longer... I just bought a Xbox One S last year so I'm not going to be buying a Series X for a while I just picked up Forza Motor Sport 7 for $10 and Borderlands 3 for $12 at best buy.

I'll wait for the prices to drop in 3 years even if it was $400 I wouldn't buy it considering I spent $300 on the One S last year

It might turn out to be the first xbox console I own, but rumors have to be true first and sony would have to not be paying attention.

Dont listen to what people say bad about Xbox because coming from me having been 15 years with Sony owning a PS1-PS4 once I got my Xbox One S I haven't cut on my PS4 in almost a year. You get so much value from the Xbox because of a few things

#1 Backward Compatibility you can play Xbox/360 games on the Xbox One "Based off of Compatibility" but trust me a good 75% games play well also they get upscaled aswell
#2 The value if you get a gamepass basically you get basically all the exclusives and a good amount of titles for free, The only thing to watch out for is sometimes they do delist games on there but the microsoft stuff basically stay.

Xbox One S isn't perfect but if you want to see value I would buy the Series X because you basically get Xbox-Series X playback on the next gen. Sony isn't offering anything special right now they basically gave a middle finger to current PS4 owners since their future exclusives titles are only for PS5 meaning they are forcing you to get it and more than likely ditch the PS4 all together after PS5 is launched.

I bought this year Xbox one x. So maybe I also gonna wait. Microsoft said that for the next 2 years they gonna release games for both Xbox one and series x if the games coming from one of it's game studios. Also 400$ in my country is like 600$.

Given that they make just as much money, if not more, from PC gaming, Microsoft has zero need or reason to take such a big loss on each console sold. Not to mention XB1X is half as powerful as Series X, doesn't use an SSD, and launched at $500. Sony will have to take a loss on PS5 just to match that and avoid memeing themselves again, while I'd be very surprised if XBSX comes in under "599 US dollars."

Xbox Game Pass is available on PC too, so that's not a selling point for those that already have a PC.

I am unlikely to buy a gamepass, I don't like ongoing cost and my broadband is not good enough for downloading games. I'm not sure there are any xbox games from previous generations that I would be interested in, if there were then I'd just pick up a cheap second hand console.

I don't play that many games, so each console I buy has to justify the purchase (exclusives, hax etc). If the cost is low then I am more likely to justify buying it.

I bought the gamepass because I didn't want to buy games again like I did on the PS4... and the gamepass was the reason why I bought the Xbox.. I do think a good percentage of games can be played on PC

You make a extremely good point! That's why I'm watching closely in the next few years for Series-X i did never play the PC part for my gamepass though... I have plenty of time since I'm new to Xbox I still have alot of backlog to play

I think Microsoft made a mistake releasing model X on this gen they should have saved that next gen because I think that's going to hurt them for series X. I wanted to get the Xbox One X last year but they wanted $400 so I just settled for the One S since that rivaled the PS4 Pro... so imagine buying a Xbox One X last year it's more than likely not going to make you buy a series X this year.

Lol xbox one s does not rival ps4 pro, xbox one x does and it is a far superior console and I love it as well as my Spidey ps4 pro.

I thought the PS4 Pro only upscale the games it isn't true Native 4K I bought the Xbox One S for upscaling I didn't want to shell out an extra $100 for the X. The only game that interest me on the PS5 is GT7 and the Horizon Zero Dawn... I'm most likely will buy the Series-X first and the PS5 second but I'm waiting on price drops

I'm not buying another gaming laptop I'll just get the console instead

Definitely seems low. I'm guessing an $800-900 launch in Australia. So I guess like $600usd

If you look at the current trends in pricing it just doesn't make any sense that either of the consoles will be on the cheaper end. I would be pretty happy if it was 400 though as I already have 150 in my microsoft account so it would be a day one purchase for 250.

Still think its going to be 500, in which case I would hold off for a while.

I’d love it if that were the case, but highly doubt it’ll be as cheap as $400. I’m guessing $500-600 USD. I refuse to financially support a digital-only console, so even if the lite model (or whatever dumb name I’m sure they’ll give it) is cheaper, I probably won’t go for it.

But, as someone who’s been repping Xbox since the sixth generation, I gotta say.. the Series X doesn’t have a lot to impress me so far.

If the rumor of it letting you install Windows ends up being true, I’ll try to get it as soon as I can. If not, I’d probably just wait until games I wanna play stop coming out for Xbox One.
