Its the soft reset. If you tap it so its green (red is off) you can press L+R+Y+B+X+A at the same time to do a 'soft' reset back to the games menu. It doesn't work on homebrew roms only commercial game Roms.

its handy and saves your power button a thrashing.

The L button adjusts the backlight settings, 4 settings for NDSL, 2 for NDS. Just in case you wanted to know.

Thats nice to know, I had always thought thats what it was for but I didn't know the button combination.
