The answer is only no if you're wrong. Apps which use DLDI are a bit of a bitch to get running on some emulators, but it's not inherently impossible. For no$gba, you need to make an FCSR image, which builds all of the external files into the ROM (so, for say Moonshell, all the skin data, etc. is part of moonshell.nds). The easiest way to do this is with DLDIrc, but the release version often fails when creating FCSR images; so you'll need to replace one of the files in it. I'll quote the ever-helpful dantheman here, since he explains it better than I ever could:

What you're referring to is FCSR, and it's not that hard of a process. However, you will not be able to save. Here's the easiest and most reliable method:

1. Download DLDIrc and install it. Choose the FCSR option when it gives you the chance.
2. Download Dwedit's more stable file injection program from http://www.dwedit.org/dwedit_board/viewtop...?pid=2289#p2289
3. Go to C:\Program Files\DLDIrc\fcsrimage and extract the add_to_disk_image.exe program file here.
4. Right-click the build.bat file and click Edit
5. Replace the "bfi.exe -f=%1 %2" line with "add_to_disk_image.exe %1 %2"
6. Now you can right-click any *.nds file to easily create an FCSR image. Just make a folder with the same name as the *.nds file which will act as the root of the card. For instance, for jEnesisDS.nds, create a folder called "jEnesisDS" and put your game files in that. Right-click to create the "jEnesisDS_fcsr.nds" file which can be flashed to your GBA flash cart or tested in no$GBA.

Note that steps 1-5 only need to be done once.

OK, since not everyone knows how to do this, how would one create and add Files to a dldi.img under Windows 7???????? Asking so I can get Neo.ds working using DraStic

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
