Arc System Works held its "BlazBlue Streaming" event in Tokyo yesterday. As reported at Famitsu.com, the fan event saw a couple of big announcements and teases for the 2D fighting series.

Held to commemorate the recent availability of Continuum Shift's Makoto download content, the event featured appearances by voice actors Kana Ueda (Rachel), Kanako Kondo (Noel) and Tomomi Isomura (Makoto), and producer Mori Toshimichi. Some 100 fans were able to try out Continuum Shift, and purchase a variety of BlazBlue goods. Stage events included an eight player tournament involving the four guests and four attendees.

The big announcements came at the end of the event. Mori took the stage and said something we already knew: Continuum Shift will have more downloadable characters to follow Makoto. A video that followed revealed that the second character download to be Valkenhayn R Hellsing. Availability timing and pricing were not announced.

More mysteriously, Mori revealed that Arc System Works will be showing BlazBlue Continuum Shift at the upcoming Amusement Machine Show. Said Mori, "BlazBlue will be shown at an arcade game show. Please consider what this means." This year's AM Show will be held from the 9th through the 11th at the Makuhari Messe convention center just outside of Tokyo.

Yess, awesome. Gonna have to get Blazblue CS sometime soon, but when I do, I'll get the DLC characters.

But the thing is, do the characters have a part in story mode? Or are they just there for arcade mode?

DLC characters have a challenge mode, you can use them in practice, and can be used in online matches.

They are not part of the story mode or the arcade mode.
