Just a heads up, also expect spambots that sign up but don't post; instead using their User Profiles as linkdumps they change their birthdays everyday.

Luckily, that's the only one so far. Let's hope that'll be the last one

    That's what she said.

But anyway, that was pretty fast, it hasn't even been a day yet.

Well, that's one of the disadvantages of changing boards to one that has been out for a long time: the spambots already existed. In fact, they've probably been trying ever since the initial version of IPB3 was released. Just now the site is actually susceptible to these attacks.

There are tons of spambots, and there always were. We should make a list of them so the accounts can get deleted (or at least the link within them)

They'll just keep coming, I doubt that will do much but slightly delay them.

I'm sure they'll increase as web crawlers find the new site

Can't a filter be applied to usernames and links in the descriptions? Or is that dependent of IPB3?

I suggest implementing ReCaptcha, it's done the job on other forums I frequent. As for status update, usually a regexp fixes them all.

Either that, or implement those question things. I did that on my forum and I have nearly no bots sign up anymore.

And o.o that was fast. And, bbcode fail.

I'm not sure this is related to spam but I just got a notification saying the user 'aKardAvaibia' (who just joined) liked my 2 month old thread.

If it is a spambot, this could lead a member to their profiles and then to whatever links they have on their status/profile
If it isn't, sorry aKardAvaibia, I doubt you just joined to like my post.

Sweet, we can "Like" posts now!?!

Anyway, If anything, we can soon claim 500,000 members if spambots keep making new accounts!
