Okay, so i was on Wikipdia looking at zelda games and i saw the oracle of seasons/ages games and i saw the GBA compatabillity thing and i wondered to myself,

"Is there a patch that makes the game think its being played on a GBA for the DS GB emulator?"
so i came to ask you guys who actually know something about ROMs and there components. so if a patch exists that makes the game thinks its being played on a GBA but really isnt exists, can someone link me the patch?

    Thanks!

you mean run a game via GBC emu but make it think it's running on GBA... if so, why?

I seem to recall a couple of emulators had the option although I am not sure about lameboy.

I've seen patches for the Japanese versions which make the games behave as if they're being run on GBA; never tested them to see if they work on the US versions.

EDIT: It looks like patches do exist; the ROM site I use includes "GBA version" hacks of both (in English).

EDIT2: Patches for both Ages and Seasons. I "made" them myself by diffing clean ROMs of both to the GBA hacks. It looks like the patches are extremely small, 25 bytes each. Zipping them actually inflated the file size quite a bit, to a whopping 322 bytes.

If you use GoodGBx, the goodnames for the clean ROMs are Legend of Zelda, The - Oracle of Ages (U) [C][!] and Legend of Zelda, The - Oracle of Seasons (U) [C][!]; the patched ROMs should be picked up as Legend of Zelda, The - Oracle of Ages (U) (GBA V0.3 Hack) [C] and Legend of Zelda, The - Oracle of Seasons (U) (GBA V0.3 Hack) [C]. I personally tested the Ages ROM to make sure the Advance Shop was available; it was. I'm too lazy to go through the intro to Seasons, so fingers crossed that it works, too.

Or, you could just get the original patch, which works on all versions of Zelda. [IMG]

Vague Rant's patch might include a CRC fix already, though, which would make it possible to run the patched ROMs on a real GBC.

    Code:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ---------------------------------DuoDreamer----------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Z-GBA.IPS v0.3

This IPS patch is for Zelda:Ages and Seasons Jap BOTH. The patch just sets
the game to thinking it's in a GameBoy Advance rather than a regular GBC
which alters the color palettes, and (hopefully) opens up the GBA-ONLY
special shop in the game. This patch will corrupt the checksum in the
header, just use RGBFIX.EXE or similar tools to update it after you've
    patched.

    UPDATE: OCT 06 2001
Oops, I fucked up the last update to the patch, I forgot to make the game
jump to my patch code, so the game pretty much doesn't do anything.

    UPDATE: OCT 05 2001
Updated the patch to work on ANY of the Ages/Seasons games, including
the US, JAP, and MU5 versions.

Goomba Color has a menu option to let you select what the GBC game sees the GBA as, but I don't know how Lameboy behaves in this regard.

I used the patch, and for some reason, it didn't work.

    I'm currently using Lameboy.

If I'm not mistaken, all you get is an "Advance Ring" that has no effect or use except to complete your collection of rings.

Not really worth the effort I would say.

IF you don't wanna patch it, run it on one of the emulators that has that option.
    Then copy the save file.

The shop isn't worth going into on both Ages and Seasons. There are only 2 Gasha Seeds and 1 Ring.

The Ring in Seasons is the Seasons Ring.
The Ring in Ages is the Time Ring.

    The two Gasha Seeds, like all all other Gasha Seeds, make trees with decent rewards like;

    200 Rupees
    100 Rupees
    Another Gasha Seed
    Ring
    Hear Piece

    i agree with tj_cool
speaking of which i'd rather love the advance shop in seasons then in ages.
and i've both cleared them + the secret boss =p which could only be accessed by having both the games =/ to bad the bonus boss is a piece of cake =_=

I assume that, although this IS considered bumping a really old topic, this is a good enough reason to do so, since the site that hosts the patch @enarky referred to is down and/or dead. Here is another link to the same file (z_gba.zip). Just click the blue letters that say z_gba.zip. It will download automatically.

    Edit: Link updated.
