I've played about 3-5hrs so far and the only thing that will have me playing more is story. The only thing that i'm a bit upset about is the overall look of the game, it seems a bit dull. A more colourful and a bit more polished look would have made this game really nice. As for the gameplay i think the grid system isn't really cutting it. It has very little to do with gameplay other than range of attacks, would have been much better without the grid like most turn-based rpgs (eg. final fantasy). Other than that the game, gameplay-wise is pretty much fun. That's just my honest opinion of the game "so far" might keep playing and see how it goes. What are your impressions of the game so far?

My reaction was pretty much the same. Flashier graphics would definitely help, but I simply love the dialogue. Propz to the Xseed localization team.

That's Falcom. Graphics isn't everything. I'm always loving their 2D designs. I was a little dissapointed when I saw that Ys 7 used 3D models for characters.

Still, I was hoping years that this is comming in English. I've ordered my copy just to support XSEED because of that.

I purchased this game on UMD, but I cannot run it without updating to 6.37. I have a PSP-3000 on 6.35 PRO-B3. Can anyone assist me?

well once you've purchased the game you have the right to download it now. Just download it and keep the UMD as a collectible.
Hmm. I was hoping there would be a better solution, but that will work, I guess. It might be more convenient if I use iso_tool to rip it for myself.

Looks like it's time for me to buy a bigger memory stick.

That's technically wrong. When purchasing a game, you have a right to make a back up of your own copy. Downloading someone else's backup is illegal, and them uploading that backup for public download is also illegal.

It's a touchy subject. You can make legal back ups of the back. But they must be for
-personal use
-cannot use the same game at the same time
-cannot distribute them
-Cannot change the files inside the UMD or whatever you are dumping
in his context, he is downloading so it is considered illegal

The main pull for this game is the sheer amount of unique text.
You can run through and never talk to anyone, but you're missing out on much of the charm.
Each time something happens every single NPC has something new to say.

There's so much unique text that even empty chests have individual text instead of a universal "Empty" blip.

I really like it.
I love to talk to the NPCs after each event to see whatever happened in their lives. Ys 7 had this too but somehow the NPCs in it flt really... empty, here they feel "alive". I'm doing a perfect BP run and while some quests are pretty boring (exterminate x monster) others are pretty fun. I also like how the cooking is ACTUALLY useful unlike other games where you can cook like the Tales of series.
OH AND I LOVE HOW THERE'S EVEN GAY INNUENDO IT'S SO DIVERSE!

Thanks for the clarification, everyone. I bought a bigger memory stick, and ripped the UMD for my own usage. It runs fine.

Hopefully in the future there will be a way for 6.35 PRO to run UMDs with 6.36+ firmware updates on them, but I can live with this until then.

One of the sites that weren't blocked on the school's network was some file uploading sites. I would upload some games, write down the URL and take it to school one day.
